People Are More Important Than Places
The International Women's Travel Organizations (IFWTO) gives aid to Mid-South Women in Tourism--Katrina victims in New Orleans.
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (PRWEB) September 21, 2005
Victims of Hurricane Katrina will receive emergency aid this month from an international organization of travel and tourism professionals.
The International Federation of WomenÂs Travel Organizations (IFWTO) has received donations, offers of accommodations, and employment opportunities for members of IFWTO living in the area hit by Katrina.
IFWTO Chairman Lyn Gamboa, of the Philippines, says all chapters worldwide helped organize aid for the 50 members and their families of Mid-South Women in Tourism in New Orleans. She says IFWTO has never, in its 37-year history, had so many members affected by a disaster of this magnitude.
IFWTO works to improve and make more effective the status of women within the travel industry through the exchange of ideas and personal participation. The organization also works to further promote international goodwill and understanding.
ÂWe are all very concerned about the health and welfare of all those suffering the aftermath of the disaster. It is our hope that our relief efforts will help make a difference, says Mrs. Gamboa
