OTTAWA (PRWEB) September 4, 2004
Symagery today announced a partnership agreement with Sammi Information Systems Co., Ltd., a major Korean technology company focused on data collection for enterprise resource planning and supply chain management applications. Under the partnership, Sammi will provide SymageryÂs SX4000 image reading system in its Smart-eCompact hand-held terminal.
The Smart-eCompact is a rugged hand-held computer with a full, alphanumeric keypad and integrated 2D scanner. Based on the powerful 32-bit XScaleTM 400MHz processor from Intel, and MicrosoftÂs Windows CE. NET 4.2 operating system, the Smart-eCompact offers the latest security and scalable networking features, faster performance, rich multimedia and Web capabilities, and greater interoperability with PCs, servers, Web services and other devices. Additional flexibility is built-in with expansion compact flash and secure digital slots.
Wireless connectivity to the enterprise is supported via industry standard wireless LAN (802.11b 2.4GHz) and wide area wireless communications over CDMA/GSM/GPRS networks. A small, integrated package, the Smart-eCompact is ideally suited for delivery applications and inventory control functions within manufacturing and warehousing operations, as well as automating sales, field service, healthcare, hospitality, retail and public safety work forces.
SymageryÂs SX4000 image reader system provides SammiÂs Smart-eCompact hand-held with powerful image capture and bar code reading capabilities. Equipped with the Symagery image engine, the Smart-eCompact can easily process one and two-dimensional (1D and 2D) bar codes and take high-quality megapixel images
ÂThe SX4000 image engine is ideal for users of the Smart-eCompact hand-held because it provides superior decoding and image reading functionality in a rugged handheld unit. The ability to capture and decode data from traditional, stacked and matrix codes in addition to capturing high resolution images enables SammiÂs customers to improve efficiency and accuracy in a wide range of mobile and industrial applications, said Ron Caines, president and CEO, Symagery.
The SX4000 comprises an image engine based on the Symagery megapixel CMOS image sensor, a vision processor interface IC and an embedded decode software suite. The SX4000 incorporates the key imaging components required to integrate digital image capture, and to decode linear 1D and 2D bar code symbologies.
ÂWe selected Symagery as our partner because the SX4000 gives the Smart-eCompact hand-held exceptional 1D and 2D barcode reading capabilities, as well as megapixel imaging, at a competitive price, said H. J. Kim, president, Sammi.
The Smart-eCompact with SymageryÂs SX4000 image reader will be available in fall 2004 in Asia and Europe through Sammi, and in North America through SmarTeminal Computers, Inc. (www. smarterminal. com), a subsidiary company that offers Sammi products in North America, including hand-held and tablet computer systems.
