Today the Watkins Insurance Group, a full-service independent insurance agency based in Austin, announced the purchase of a local insurance agency, AIC-Sun Belt Group, Inc., for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition affirms Watkins Insurance Group as the largest privately held, locally owned insurance agency in the Greater Austin area.

The agency plans to retain all current employees of AIC-Sun Belt, including its principals. With the addition of AIC-Sun Belt's 11 employees, Watkins Insurance Group staff will increase to a total of 79 employees.
