Deca Poet judges competition for MIND

Digital poet, Geoff Tims the Lincolnshire Poet, whoÂ’s been making waves in the poetry world with news of his latest book Deca, is to be the judge of this yearÂ’s Cleethorpes Mind Poetry Competition.

Geoff, who tackles difficult, contemporary issues in his poetry, will look at poems written especially round the theme of Isolation for this yearÂ’s Mind Week (May 17th)

Mind are a registered charity working to help raise awareness of the difficulties afflicting people who suffer from mental health problems. They are a national charity active in over 210 sites throughout England and Wales.

Their aim for the week of May 17th is to focus on the subject of isolation, a modern day malaise afflicting many people, which can lead to mental health problems. The subject has a two-pronged approach, as many people who suffer from ill mental health are isolated and incapable of communicating effectively with those around them.

GeoffÂ’s gasp of the subtleties of the issues affecting modern living which makes his poetry powerful and memorable, also make him well suited for judging the entries to this competition.

“My Poetry deals with real issues and effects real people,” says Geoff, “Mind’s work is of vital importance today. Mental health problems affect a lot more people than we realise and it is important we understand what they go through. I look forward to seeing some very interesting work in his competition.”

With a reputation for making people stop and think with his own poems Geoff has become the 21st centuryÂ’s freshest, most dynamic street poet with a body of work hat is gaining him a growing following day by day throughout the world.
