Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 22, 2009

Peter Sims, co-author of best selling business book "True North" and the forthcoming book "Little Bets" will provide the keynote for the BioWest 2009 Conference and Expo. The announcement is made by John Collar, President and CEO of the Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA), who says Ginger Graham, former CEO of Amylin Pharmaceuticals, and Eric Alexander, skier, climber, and mountaineer, will also address the BioWest audience this year.

Organizers expect more than 700 industry leaders November 10th for the seventh annual BioWest event, held again at the Grand Hyatt Denver, 1750 Welton. Registration is now open at: http://www. BioWestConference. com (http://www. BioWestConference. com)

"The 2009 BioWest Conference is shaping up to be an outstanding event that will provide insight and perspective to companies and leaders in the bioscience industry," Collar explains, "With the last year being difficult for any business, BioWest will be discussing how companies can set themselves apart from the crowd and how we can develop strong leaders and entrepreneurs in order to grow the bioscience industry within the state."

More information follows about the national speakers confirmed for BioWest 2009:
Founder's Breakfast: Ginger L. Graham, President and CEO of Two Trees Consulting, is a public speaker and health care consultant. She is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Amylin Pharmaceuticals and the former Group Chairman, Office of the President for Guidant Corporation. Leadership and Innovation Luncheon: Peter Sims is a bestselling coauthor and strategic adviser specializing in leadership and innovation. He is the coauthor (with Bill George, CEO, Medtronic) of True North, the bestselling book that New York Times called "one of the most important books on leadership to come along in years." Annual Awards Dinner: Eric Alexander, skier, climber, and mountaineer is achieving his goals while playing an instrumental role in helping others to achieve their own. On May 25th 2001 Eric defied the odds and scaled Mt. Everest guiding his blind - friend Erik Weihenmayer to its lofty 29,035' summit.

The BioWest Conference and Expo is the Rocky Mountain region's preferred venue for visiting with researchers about their newest discoveries and meeting founders of the area's most innovative and promising bioscience start-up companies. The conference will also include an inside look at the Colorado economy and economic development from both Don Elliman, Chief Operating Officer for Colorado, and Don Marostica, Director of the Office of Economic Development and International Trade. With the economic situation, BioWest will allow companies and bioscience leaders understand the investment world a bit more through an expert panel discussing investor relations and the art of creating valuable relationships. Then, taking a deeper look into the investor relationship, three companies will present their "investor pitch" followed by a group of experts who will explain what key elements investors look for in a pitch.

Earlier stage technologies will be showcased at the Technology Transfer Poster Reception on the evening of November 10. Researchers from the region's top institutions will be on hand with scientific poster presentations to discuss their bioscience discoveries. Following the reception will be the CBSA Annual Awards Dinner where the bioscience industry celebrates the "Best of the Best' and recognizes industry leaders and supporters.

In addition to formal presentations, productive networking among attendees will occur at this year's BioWest Expo, featuring 50 bioscience suppliers whose exhibits will fill the hallways with services and products to help the region's companies succeed and grow.
