Top Mixologist Provides Ten Fresh Fruit Combinations for Your Cocktail - Every Fruit Has an Herbal Partner to Create a Perfect Balance

Top Mixologist Provides Ten Fresh Fruit Combinations for Your Cocktail - Every Fruit Has an Herbal Partner to Create a Perfect Balance

Junior Merino, The Liquid Chef, provides a list of the top ten fruits and herbs as well as the 5 Elements to Creating a Well Balanced Cocktail.

New York, NY (PRWEB) August 27, 2008

It is no surprise that fresh fruits and fresh ingredients have been popping up on cocktail menus throughout the country. Fresh ingredients are no longer being used just during the summer months; they are being used to create better tasting and healthier cocktails year round.

"As a mixologist (http://www. theliquidchefinc. com) I have spent years working, with bartenders and customers that want to make their own drinks at home, with pre-arranged fruit and herbal pairings that work masterfully for cocktail combinations," says Junior Merino. "I grew up in the kitchen as a young boy and have spent years working on and perfecting the taste profiles among fruits and herbs. Below is a list of the top ten fruits and herbs as well as the 5 Elements to Creating a Well Balanced Cocktail, provided by Merino.

Fruit + Herb:

Strawberry + Basil
Pineapple + Mint
Kiwi + Thyme
Blackberry + Oregano
Cucumber + Cilantro
Cantaloupe + Dill
Pear + Sage
Watermelon + Shiso
Pink Grapefruit + Tarragon
Green Apple + Parsley

"As the Liquid Chef (http://www. theliquidchefinc. com), I spend time in the kitchen tasting pieces of fruit and pieces of herbs and pair them together until I find the right taste profile," Merino says. "It's a matter of training the palate to pick up various flavors and aromas that pair well together with not only the fruit and herb, but also the floral notes in the liquor."

He continues, "There truly are limitless fresh fruit and herbal combinations, but it is always important to remember that balance is key in every cocktail. The 5 tips below help to incorporate my beliefs into each cocktail that is made. A guest should have a memorable experience in which they not only get to enjoy a great drink and dish pairing, but they also walk away with a new understanding of gastronomy and mixology."

1.VISUAL: The fruit and herb combinations that are chosen not only compliment each other in taste but they also complement in beauty. This is the first point of impact. A beautiful drink excites the senses.
2. AROMA: 90% of the taste of the cocktail comes from the smell. The better the fruit and herbal combination the better the overall taste of the drink.
3. TASTE: This is simply the confirmation of the first two elements.
4. HARMONY: The satisfaction that everything is in balance and that no adjustments need to be made. All elements are balanced: liquor, citrus, sweetener, texture, fruit, and herb
5.HUMAN ELEMENT: Just as a chef considers cooking as a labor of love and when cooking from the heart food just simply tastes better, mixologists take the same pride in their cocktails. If you take the time to make a drink correctly (with balance and proper measurements) your customers and friends will enjoy a fantastic cocktail.

Below are two recipes that exemplify perfect balance among liquor, fruit, citrus, and herb:

Strawberry + Basil Caipirinha
2 oz Leblon Cachaça (http://wwwliveloveleblon. com)
3/6 Lime
1 Strawberry
2 Sweet Basil leaf torn into pieces
3/4 oz simple syrup

Passionfruit/Pineapple + Mint Caipirinha
2 oz Leblon Cachaça (http://wwwliveloveleblon. com)
3/6 Lime
3 Chunks of Pineapple
¾ oz Passion Fruit Puree
¾ oz Agave Nectar
6 pieces of mint

It is no surprise master mixologist Junior Merino has built his career on fusing exotic, unexpected flavors: He grew up in the culinary melting-pot of Central Mexico. Beginning when Junior was just 10, his food-loving parents taught him to cook with local produce ranging from indigenous cocoa beans, to pomegranates native to the Middle East, to cilantro, which has Mediterranean roots. Despite all these foods' varied origins, Junior saw that in combination, they created harmony--planting in him an early passion for culinary mestizaje. It's a technique that's helped Junior rise quickly in his field along with his intense work ethic.

In 2006, Junior decided to create a company that would focus nature's bounty into creative and one of a kind drinkable masterpieces as well as unique mixers, syrups and salts. The Liquid Chef, Inc. was founded to educate, create new experiences, and to show case the artistry and mixability of ingredients and liquors from all over the world. In 2008, Junior Merino added The Liquid Team, Mixologists which he trained to execute his vision, philosophy and his passion.

Always eager to share his extensive knowledge of spirits and ingredients, Junior has been featured in Gourmet, Marie Claire, Time Out, Latina, the New York Times, Women's Wear Daily, and New York Magazine, among many others, and has appeared on BBC Radio, Martha Stewart Radio and Televisa.

Taste the Art. Drink with all your Senses.

Job Growth and Strong Home Sales Bolster Maryland’s Economy & Howard County Real Estate Market

Job Growth and Strong Home Sales Bolster Maryland’s Economy & Howard County Real Estate Market

Job growth, especially in the nonprofit sector, as well as an increase in home sales in key areas encourage Maryland’s economic recovery, say the experts from the Damico Land Realty Group.

Columbia, MD (PRWEB) June 21, 2010

The forecasts for Maryland’s future economic health are cautiously optimistic even as the recession continues. A recently released study from the John Hopkins Center for Civil Society Studies notes that job growth in the nonprofit sector actually increased by 2.7 percent in 2008. With this positive increase, Maryland home sales and real estate values have also been affected in key areas such as Central Maryland and the Greater Baltimore area, reports the Damico Land Realty Group.

From 1999 to 2008, Maryland’s nonprofit employment actually increased by 27 percent and the sector is now the second-largest employer in the state, next only to retail. “In Howard County nonprofit employment accounts for almost 10 percent of the total private employment,” says David Land of the Damico Land Realty Group. “The positive job growth in this sector, despite the recession, indicates that there might well be a faster economic recovery in Central Maryland. Couple that with the fact that home sales here in Greater Baltimore have actually increased by 26 percent in May; leaves a positive outlook for the Maryland real estate market.”

Job growth and an increase in home sales are both indicative of a strong and stable economy and housing market, something which the region has long enjoyed due to its proximity to Baltimore City and Washington, D. C. Howard County, MD homes (http://www. damicoland. com/) have long been a popular choice among those with jobs in the aforementioned areas. According to data from the Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, a total of 2,427 homes were sold in May 2010 in the city of Baltimore and the counties of Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard. This is a significant increase from May 2009’s total of 1,930 homes sold.

“That the number of home sales increased even after the expiration of the federal homebuyer tax credit is a heartening sign of stabilization in the region,” says the Group’s Vince Damico. He and David Land represent the core of the Damico Land Realty Group, Central Maryland’s premier real estate team. They have a particular expertise in Howard County, MD real estate (http://www. damicoland. com/howard-county-md-real-estate-s4689.html), including Ellicott City, MD condos (http://www. damicoland. com/ellicott-city-md-condos-s4696.html).

Web-hgh. com Explains the Benefits of HGH Replacement Therapy

According to web-hgh. com, Human Growth Hormone (HGH) replacement therapy is a new concept that is getting a lot of attention from consumers and from the medical community.

Mount Kisco, NY (PRWEB) September 14, 2005

According to web-hgh. com, Human Growth Hormone (HGH) replacement therapy is a new concept that is getting a lot of attention from consumers and from the medical community. Some medical experts believe that HGH has the ability to combat certain effects of aging, such as an increase in body fat, the loss of lean muscle tissue, sleeping problems, and decreased mental function.

HGH sprays are orally-administered tinctures that contain any number of a combination of vitamins and amino acids designed to increase the body's natural production of Human Growth Hormone. HGH is produced by the pituitary gland, a small structure at the base of the brain. HGH acts on the liver to stimulate the production of insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I), which is carried in the bloodstream to cells and tissues that use it to maintain the health of old cells and create new ones.

According to web-hgh. com, HGH supplements act in many of the same ways as HGH sprays. HGH supplements come in a capsule, effervescent tablet, or powder form and are usually administered once or twice a day. Like HGH sprays, HGH supplements are formulated to increase the body's natural production of HGH, often resulting in a reduction in body fat and an increase in lean muscle mass as well as other benefits, such as increased alertness, more restful sleep, and increased sex drive and sexual function.

Summit Delivers High-Performance Wireless LAN Radio Modules to Vertical Market Devices

Summit Delivers High-Performance Wireless LAN Radio Modules to Vertical Market Devices

Summit’s compact flash and PCMCIA 802.11g Wi-Fi adapters address the hardware, software, and support requirements of application-specific device vendors and their customers. Based on Broadcom® 54g® technology, the Summit modules include key hardware innovations to deliver industry-leading range, battery life, and temperature range. Summit software delivers support for key operating systems, strong security, and easy administration.

Akron, OH (PRWEB) June 15, 2006

Summit Data Communications, Inc. today announced the first family of 802.11g Wi-Fi modules designed specifically for integration into application-specific devices (ASDs) like portable data terminals, bar code scanners, portable printers, medical devices, and industrial equipment. The Summit modules provide the performance, security, and software features required for reliable operation in business-critical ASDs and their environments.

The Summit 10G family of compact flash (CF) and PCMCIA (PC card) adapters provide the range and throughput required in radio-challenging environments such as retail stores, distribution centers, hospitals, factories, and ports. The Summit adapters come with a complete software suite that includes device drivers, integrated security software, and a full-featured application for monitoring and management of all radio and security parameters. Summit provides comprehensive technical and compliance services to ASD vendors to ensure successful integration and ongoing end-customer satisfaction.

Performance and Reliability

Based on Broadcom® 54g® technology, the Summit modules include key hardware innovations that set them apart from mainstream 802.11g products. One hardware innovation is the use of high-performance transmitters and receivers that provide the greatest possible operating range. The modules provide up to 80 milliwatts (mW) of transmit power, which is 40% greater than mainstream radios. This additional power, coupled with industry-leading receiver sensitivity, results in a far more reliable connection than that provided by radios designed for home and office use.

"As Wi-Fi becomes an invaluable tool for retail, healthcare and industrial applications, Broadcom and Summit are developing solutions that meet or exceed customers' performance, range and security requirements -- even in the most challenging environments," said Jeff Baer, senior marketing manager for embedded Wi-Fi from Broadcom's Wireless LAN Business Unit. "Delivering solutions for the exploding ASD market will continue to extend Broadcom's Wi-Fi presence beyond PCs, retail networking gear and other wireless LAN applications."

To allow for operation under the extreme temperatures found in factories, warehouses, freezers, and the outdoors, the Summit modules provide an operating temperature range of -30° to 75° Celsius (-22° to 167° Fahrenheit). With an advanced power circuit, both the SDC-CF10G and PC10G consume just 175 milliamps (mA) of power in receive mode and 10 mA when in idle mode, which is approximately one third less than most 802.11g radios. Summit's modest power consumption provides for increased ASD battery life and full-shift operation.

Security and Manageability

Increasingly, ASDs transmit sensitive information such as inventory data and patient information. To assure the integrity of that information and protect the entire network infrastructure from wireless intrusion, Summit's 10G family provides the highest level of interoperable security available, including support for Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) and WPA2 (IEEE 802.11i). The radios provide hardware acceleration for the encryption algorithms used by WEP, TKIP (WPA), and AES (WPA2). For mutual authentication of client device and network, the Summit products support IEEE 802.1X with pre-shared keys or any of a broad range of Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) types. Supported authentication credentials include logon passwords, one-time passwords, and digital certificates.

The software suite for the Summit CF and PC Card modules supports Microsoft Windows CE Version 4.2 and 5.0 as well as Pocket PC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0. Support for Windows XP Embedded is planned for Q3 2006, and support for other operating systems is planned for the second half of 2006.

The Summit software suite includes the Summit Client Utility (SCU), a fully integrated management and monitoring utility. With SCU, users and administrators can view and configure all radio parameters, including transmit power and SSID, and all security parameters. SCU supports multiple network profiles to allow for device operation in multiple facilities. To enable applications other than SCU to manage Summit modules, the company provides an application programming interface (API). Summit also provides ASD vendors with a manufacturing utility that allows them to set regulatory parameters such as channel set and maximum transmit power to provide for world-wide compliance across multiple devices.

Price and Availability

List pricing for the SDC-CF10G 802.11g compact flash module is $89, with a list price of $109 for the SDC-PC10G 802.11g PCMCIA module. Both devices are available today in sample quantities with volume quantities available in June 2006. Additional product specifications can be found at www. summitdatacom. com. Availability and volume discount information is available to qualified ASD vendors by emailing sales@summitdatacom. com or calling 866.434.4300 in North America or 330.434.7929.

About Summit

Summit Data Communications, Inc. is dedicated to providing high-performance wireless LAN modules for today’s business-critical ASDs such as portable data terminals, barcode scanners, portable printers, medical devices and industrial automation equipment. Summit devices are optimized for the challenging radio environments in which ASDs operate, including factories, warehouses, ports, hospitals, and retail stores.

Shea Butter: a Moisturizer from All Naturals Cosmetics, Inc., Balances Sensitive Skin

Harvested once a year from the Magnifolia tree nut on the Afrikan Beauty's Shea farm, and shipped to Toronto for manufacturing and distribution, All Natural's products are rich in Vitamins A, B, C, D, E, F and K, Calcium, Iron and protein.

Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) December 1, 2004

Karen Spence battles highly sensitive skin, is prone to reactions, bruising and scarring. No skin product eased her pain, until she branched out and found All Naturals Cosmetic's Shea butter from the Savannah region's "Tree of Life."

"You name it, I've tried it. I was looking for something that was all natural without chemicals or preservatives. I won't try anything else," says Spence, now an advocate of the cosmetic line.

Without even finishing one bottle each of the All Natural's Shea butter facial wash and the Hand & Body moisturizer, Spence's skin tone was balanced; her bruising and scarring diminished. Now, six months later, she uses most of the products including the All Naturals 100% Pure Shea Butter.

Harvested once a year from the Magnifolia tree nut on the Afrikan Beauty's Shea farm, and shipped to Toronto for manufacturing and distribution, All Natural's products are rich in Vitamins A, B, C, D, E, F and K, Calcium, Iron and protein, suitable for all skin types and conditions across all racial groups.

"The whole family can use our Shea Butter and other Shea Butter products in our line. It is a generic kind of product," says Lanre Tunji-Ajayi, All Naturals Cosmetics co-founder, in partnership with her husband, Tim Tunji-Ajayi.

All Naturals also uses black soap, derived from the West African palm trees. Its ingredients and affects are similar to Shea butter, but it cleanses rather than moisturizes. Amazing for acne, eczema and black spots on the skin. Shea butter is even eaten raw and its oil is used for cooking.

All Naturals enriches its product line with additional plant ingredients including cocoa butter, aloe vera and olive, coconut and palm kernal oils. Grapefruit extract is used as a natural preservative. All creams, cleansers and soaps reduce or eliminate skin ailments such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, black/white heads, blemishes, bruises, cuts, even maternity stretch marks.

"Research has found that Shea butter heals by penetrating down from the inside out. All our ingredients compliment each other, build and work well together," says Tunji-Ajayi.

While other prominent cosmetic companies may use Shea butter, All Naturals promotes itself as 'the Shea butter company', claiming to use unbleached, pure and a higher percentage of Shea Butter in all its products.

New Online Home Health Service Launched in California to Expand Direct Patient Care Time While Lowering Costs

New Online Home Health Service Launched in California to Expand Direct Patient Care Time While Lowering Costs

Today, HealthCare California announces that it is the first home health agency in California to implement an online service that answers the call from national leaders to utilize technology to improve health care. This home health software service equips all HealthCare California nursing and administrative staff with real-time access to information at the point of care, reduces costs, improves efficiency and enhances communication across the continuum of care. Statistics from the National Association of Home Care demonstrate that in-home care costs over 80% less than care provided in hospitals. This technology, provided by Kinnser Software, supports the value and quality provided to patients through home health care.

Fresno, CA (PRWEB) June 16, 2009

Today, HealthCare California announces it is the first home health agency in California to implement an industry leading, online service that answers the call from national leaders to utilize technology to improve health care. The home health software service, Agency Manager™, provides HealthCare California with a suite of online services that equips all nursing and administrative staff with real-time access to information at the point of care, reduces costs, improves efficiency and enhances communication across the continuum of care.

In announcing the new service, Devin S. Nugent, HealthCare California's Chief Operating Officer stated, "With the launch of this initiative, HealthCare California has begun to see dramatic improvements in productivity through the use of point-of-care documentation, as well as a reduction in paperwork, fuel expenses and driving times. Most importantly, our nurses are now able to spend more time on direct patient care and education because they can securely complete their charting online and in less time. For patients, this added care time translates into faster recovery time and return to their normal activities."

According to the National Association of Home Care (NAHC) (http://www. nahc. org/facts/08HC_Stats. pdf), in 2007, over 7.6 million patients utilized home care for an average of 90 days while either recovering from surgeries including cardiac bypass, hip replacement or knee replacement, or for managing complex conditions including congestive heart failure or diabetes. NAHC also reported that, during that same time period, the cost per day for home care was over 80% less expensive than the cost per day of inpatient hospital care.

"The adoption of appropriate technology is a key strategy being advocated by all sides in the current health care reform debate," remarked Joseph H. Hafkenschiel, President of the California Association for Health Services at Home (CAHSAH). "Home health agencies across the state are well positioned to leverage technology to lower costs while improving patient care."

"Now we just log in to Agency Manager™ and can easily complete all of our documentation online," remarked June Webb, R. N., Director of Patient Care Services, HealthCare California. "Physicians can also log in to complete care plan oversight and digitally sign our charts. It really saves time and improves employee satisfaction."

Agency Manager™ is provided by Kinnser Software, and its Chief Executive Officer, Christopher Hester concluded, "This is a critical time for the home care industry in which we must demonstrate that every dollar spent on home care provides unsurpassed value and quality. Working with HealthCare California, as part of their technology leadership initiative, is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate the value and quality of home health to both patients and government leaders."

Charity Awards $40 Million In Scholarships And Offers Ill Children And Their Siblings A Home School Program To Support Their Academic Development

Charity Awards $40 Million In Scholarships And Offers Ill Children And Their Siblings A Home School Program To Support Their Academic Development

Ronald McDonald House Charities and Its Local Chapters Help Children Access Education Resources

Oak Brook, IL (Vocus) October 13, 2010

From awarding $40 million in scholarships to exemplary students, to helping families fulfill the academic development of their ill children and their siblings; the Charity knows education benefits both the children and society. As part of its vision of changing a child’s life, RMHC continues to play an active role in making success possible for future leaders, while helping families preserve a sense of normalcy when they are away from home while their sick or injured child receives treatment.

Experts agree education is one of the most powerful tools for human development. But with education costs spiraling ever higher, a college education is sometimes beyond the financial reach of many outstanding students. A partnership between RMHC and its local Chapters opens the door to higher education for graduating high school seniors who face limited access to educational and career opportunities. The RMHC US Scholarship Program provides financial aid for students who are excellent role models in their communities and have the initiative to fulfill their educational aspirations. The Charity gives students the option to apply to one of four scholarship programs: RMHC® Scholars, RMHC®/Asia, RMHC®/African-American Future Achievers, and RMHC®/HACER®.

Since 1985, the Charity has identified and invested in future leaders awarding scholarships to more than 20,000 students, such as Luis Durán, 2009 RMHC®/HACER® scholarship recipient. “My dream of becoming an architect and making a difference in my community, it’s becoming a reality… and it’s thanks to a $100,000 RMHC/HACER scholarship,” said Durán. Durán, a sophomore at Arizona State University pursuing a degree in architecture, gives back to his community by volunteering at his church assisting with the breakfast for homeless every Saturday morning. He also volunteers at the Tumbleweed program, an organization that helps homeless high school students with school and gives them a home. “Our education not only helps us advance in our careers, but it emphasizes bettering our communities and being an example for future generations,” said Durán.

The deadline for the 2010/2011 RMHC Scholarship program year is January 28, 2011. Graduating high school seniors may apply online beginning November 12, 2010. Additional information and applications can be downloaded at http://rmhc. org/what-we-do/rmhc-u-s-scholarships/.

Also as part of comprehensive resources offered to families, local RMHC Chapters support educational, learning, reading and home school programs in the U. S, and internationally, in Panamá, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Turkey, Philippines, Canada and Australia, benefiting more than 800,000 children every year. Home school programs, like that offered by Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Upper Midwest, allow families, who have an extended stay at a Ronald McDonald House while their child is receiving medical treatments, to support their child’s academic development. This is an alternative school, licensed through the Minneapolis Public Schools District and staffed by the Chapter, which helps children keep up with their studies even though they are away from home.

“Fulltime instruction is provided for patients and siblings in grades K-12, allowing children to maintain academic performance while remaining together as a family,” said Meg Katzman, executive director, RMHC of the Upper Midwest. “Together with about 12 students, they not only avoid falling behind in school but actually receive more individualized instruction.” Classes follow the normal school year, and are scheduled from 9:00 a. m. to 3:00 p. m. In addition to following the state curriculum, these students also have access to music therapy, art therapy and movement classes. “We tried to put to together our own plan, getting an apartment, home-schooling the girls,” says Mary Krupski, a parent who stayed at the Ronald McDonald House of Upper Midwest. “Then we visited the Ronald McDonald House and it was clear that they knew so much more about the path we were about to take. They knew what we needed before we needed it.”

Education is a powerful and fundamental factor for human growth and economic sustainability. If given the opportunity to learn, people are more empowered to better themselves, their families and their communities. Ronald McDonald House Charities strives to be part of the change and part of the solution in improving the lives of children and their families by providing stability and vital resources, like education, so they can keep their child healthy and happy.

About Ronald McDonald House Charities Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) corporation, creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. Through its global network of local Chapters in 52 countries and regions, its three core programs, the Ronald McDonald House®, Ronald McDonald Family Room® and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile®, and millions of dollars in grants to support children's programs worldwide, RMHC provides stability and resources to families so they can get and keep their children healthy and happy. All RMHC-supported programs provide a bridge to quality health care and give children and families the time they need together to heal faster and cope better. Too Young for a Face Lift on Long Island?

Too Young for a Face Lift on Long Island?

For most women and men in their 30s, a face lift seems an "extreme" way to correct early signs of aging, but new "mini" face lift procedures are rapidly gaining ground with patients who want thorough correction for common signs of premature aging.

Huntington, NY (PRWEB) November 26, 2009

In the past, women and men in their 30s may have shied away from surgical face lifts as "too extreme" for their needs, but the recent upswing in minimally invasive procedures is sparking a new trend in surgical procedures for a much younger age bracket. Dr. James Romanelli (http://www. jrcs. com (http://www. jrcs. com)), a board-certified plastic surgeon offering a range of face lift options for Long Island patients, explains the attraction of "mini lift" procedures.

"The upside of a mini lift procedure is that it can create substantial change without going overboard," he explains. "Women and men in their 30s and early 40s are definitely concerned with wrinkles and fine lines, but they want a solution that provides long-lasting improvement while keeping the changes subtle and natural."

While a traditional or "full" facelift involves adjustments to facial and neck muscles, skin, and fatty tissue, the mini lift uses smaller incisions and focuses on a select few problem areas. Older patients with more extensive wrinkles and facial folds are still better off choosing a full facelift on Long Island, but for younger women and men the "mini" procedure can be ideal.

"When people in their 30s are seeing noticeable signs of aging early on, it's because of a combination of highly individual factors like stress levels, health and beauty habits, and heredity," he explains. "A mini face lift can address the early signs in a very customized way."

Dr. Romanelli says that achieving significant results with a speedy recovery is a big part of the attraction of mini lifts and other focused procedures like eyelid surgery on Long Island, as many patients frustrated with the limitations of facial creams turn to these procedures as a more thorough and reliable alternative.

"Medically speaking, there's just no way a cream or topical treatment can get you the results of a genuine surgical face lift, and patients today recognize that," adds Dr. Romanelli. "Skin care is important for maintaining your results in the long term, but for sagginess and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth caused by repeated muscle movement, it's just not enough."

Younger patients also have many non-surgical options to choose from, including BOTOX® Cosmetic, chemical peels, and laser treatments. However, patients have to keep in mind that there is no "magic" combination of treatments that will produce great results in every case.

"Obviously, every patient wants a minimal-downtime procedure with great results - and for the right patient the mini face lift can definitely do that - but you have to choose a qualified doctor who can provide the right combination," he says. "A talented and trustworthy surgeon has a much better chance of giving you the kind of rejuvenation you want."

Dr. James Romanelli (http://www. jrcs. com (http://www. jrcs. com)) is a board-certified plastic surgeon focusing on body, facial, and breast enhancement procedures. After earning his medical degree from SUNY Downstate, Dr. Romanelli received eight years of post-graduate specialty training in specialties including general surgery, plastic surgery, and hand surgery. Dr. Romanelli has received numerous awards and professional appointments in recognition of his surgical skill and results, and he currently serves as the Chief of Surgery at Huntington Hospital, in addition to providing a full range of procedures from his cosmetic surgery office.

Mini Storage Businesses Earn Big Pay Off for Young Investors

Mini Storage Businesses Earn Big Pay Off for Young Investors

Young entrepreneurs are seeing healthy profits in self storage due to easy start up, minimal maintenance requirements, and low failure rates.

Tulsa, OK (PRWEB) February 7, 2007

Young entrepreneurs are seeing healthy profits in self storage (http://www. gosteelgo. com/ChoosingSteelBuildingSupplier. htm) due to easy start up, minimal maintenance requirements, and low failure rates.

Utilizing durable, manufactured steel buildings (http://www. gosteelgo. com/ChoosingSteelBuildingSupplier. htm), mini storage units cost less to build than traditional real-estate investments. Without the appliances, plumbing, and other details associated with multi-family dwellings, and retail or office spaces, management costs are low.

One of the most appealing incentives for young investors is the low failure rate of self storage businesses, about 8 percent compared to 53 or 63 percent failure rates in typical real-estate ventures.

Michael McGahee, owner of Discount Storage in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, was a lot like most young investors when he got into the self storage business (http://www. gosteelgo. com/ChoosingSteelBuildingSupplier. htm). "I am the largest storage provider in North East Texas," said Michael. "When I started in 1998 with no experience or knowledge of metal buildings, American Steel Buildings was and still is a great partner to have."

Investors across the country and from many different backgrounds are finding success in the self storage business. Any area where consumers are accumulating new things or relocating, such as developing cities or areas populated with military personnel, there is a high demand for mini storage buildings (http://www. gosteelgo. com/ChoosingSteelBuildingSupplier. htm). Investors include:

Baby Boomers seeking retirement careers  Farmers who find their land surrounded by growing suburbs  Stock investors who are interested in diversifying  Small business owners looking to capitalize on vacant land

"The self-storage industry's future is very bright and it will continue to mature along with the demand for its use," said Dean Brown, president of American Steel Buildings, Inc., a steel mini storage building distributor (http://www. gosteelgo. com/ChoosingSteelBuildingSupplier. htm) with twenty years experience, "The advantages for investing in self-storage and mini-storage are numerous and will continue to bring profits to investors young and old."

Visit www. gosteelgo. com to learn more about investing in a self-storage business or to receive American Steel Building's free newsletter. You can also call 1-800-400-5121 to speak with an American Steel Building representative about planning a self-storage or climate controlled storage site.

Estes Audiology Expands to Boerne in Association with Jim Atkins, M. D.

Hearing Healthcare Clinic in Boerne Represents the Fourth Location in Central Texas for Estes Audiology

New Braunfels, Texas (Vocus) February 20, 2010

Estes Audiology (www. HearLifeAgain. com]), a professional hearing healthcare provider dedicated to improving the lives of the hearing impaired and their families, announced today that it is opening a fourth hearing healthcare center in Central Texas. The new center will be located in Boerne, Texas. Estes Audiology will be collaborating with Dr. Jim Atkins, an ear, nose and throat doctor who has been practicing in Boerne since 2001. To assist Dr. Atkins, Estes Audiology will evaluate, rehabilitate, and offer solutions to patients for hearing loss and prevention. If required by the treatment plan, Estes Audiology will then provide high tech, advanced hearing loss and prevention technology such as digital hearing aids, assisted listening devices and custom ear plugs.

“I am particularly excited about this new location in Boerne due to our association with Dr. Atkins. His attention to patient care and focus is the right approach to improved hearing health care which makes our collaboration a great asset to every patient and their family when dealing with the frustration of hearing loss,” commented Dr. Soriya Estes, founder, owner and president of Estes Audiology. “Having a location in Boerne allows us to not only offer premium hearing healthcare to the Boerne community but it will also provide a convenient location for veterans located in San Antonio as we are healthcare providers of the Veterans Administration in San Antonio.”

“What impressed me with Estes Audiology was the level of professionalism and services offered by its audiologists,” stated Dr. Atkins, an ENT that specializes in sinus and allergy treatments with offices in both Boerne and San Antonio. “Estes Audiology understands its patients and does everything possible to treat them for hearing deficits. I am proud to be associated with such a clinic and I am excited to offer their services to my patients.”

Estes Audiology in Boerne represents the fourth location for this professional healthcare provider. Estes Audiology was founded in 2005, and the reception to quality hearing healthcare services by certified audiologists has been positive as there was often a lack of focused, hearing healthcare for those facing hearing loss or those predisposed to hearing loss due to occupational hazards or to exposure to loud noises.

About Estes Audiology

Healthcare Packaging Expands Annual Conference Program and Moves to New Venue in Princeton, NJ

Healthcare Packaging's annual event for packagers of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, nutraceuticals and biologics boasts more than a name change; customizable content and a new location offer increased relevance for attendees to Healthcare Packaging Conference & Workshops on May 27 at the Hyatt Regency Princeton.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) February 22, 2010

Summit Publishing Company's Healthcare Packaging magazine has launched their annual event with changes and enhancements designed to appeal to a new breed of conference-goer. A revised format, a move to Princeton, NJ, and an expanded agenda combine with a sold-out sponsor roster to offer increased educational value for packagers of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, nutraceuticals and biologics. The former Pharmaceutical Packaging Forum, now Healthcare Packaging Conference & Workshops (http://www. healthcare-packaging. com/conference), will be held May 27 at the Hyatt Regency in Princeton, NJ. Produced by Healthcare Packaging, this event is designed for packaging decision-makers, including packaging engineers, validation and regulation specialists, package designers, security and quality control professionals, packaging sustainability managers and solution providers.

Healthcare Packaging Publisher Jim Chrzan comments on the changes to this year's event. "Our move from Philadelphia to Princeton underscores the educational nature of our conference, and offers additional convenience and affordability for attendees. We're also pleased to incorporate medical device packaging in this year's program. Topics such as sustainability, package design, compliance, FDA regulations, validation, and counterfeiting are critical issues, whether you are packaging pharmaceuticals or medical devices, so this was a logical content expansion. These changes, plus the addition of over a dozen afternoon breakout workshops, will appeal to today's professionals, who have limited time and resources. Our new format will deliver an efficient, affordable day, filled with relevant content and great networking opportunities."

Keynoting this year's general session will be Pfizer's Director of Global Packaging Technology, Geoffrey Glauser, who will speak on biopharmaceuticals, the cold chain and the regulatory environment. A representative from Watson Pharmaceuticals and other experts will discuss medical device packaging, compliance, transitioning from prescription to OTC markets, the FDA under Obama, and more. Afternoon breakout workshops will enable attendees to choose topics based on their needs. Workshops will address innovations in materials, sustainability, label printing, sorbent technology, aseptic packaging, automation, and more. Registration is now open at http://www. healthcare-packaging. com/conference.

Orion Health and Stratus Technologies, Inc. Offer New Choice in High-Availability, Fault-Tolerant Portal Solutions

Orion Health and Stratus Technologies, Inc. Offer New Choice in High-Availability, Fault-Tolerant Portal Solutions

Healthcare organizations seeking high-end availability for their clinical applications have a new choice with Orion Health and Stratus Technologies, which offer continuously available access to patient data via the Orion Health portal running on Stratus servers.

Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) September 30, 2008

Healthcare organizations seeking high-end availability for their clinical applications have a new choice with Orion Health and Stratus Technologies, which offer continuously available access to patient data via the Orion Health portal running on Stratus servers.

Stratus Technologies combines proven industry applications with Medical Grade fault-tolerant Stratus® ftServer® systems, layered software, and solution services to deliver field-proven continuous availability solutions. Stratus servers ensure that critical applications like Concerto Physician Portal, http://www. orionhealth. com/concerto/ (http://www. orionhealth. com/concerto/) which holds critical patient data, are always accessible.

Medical Grade ftServer systems offer the healthcare industry 99.999 percent uptime reliability, which in the medical field is critical as record keeping and patient care functions move to electronic formats. The availability of data becomes a critical concern.

"Physicians and healthcare organizations have a unique concern when it comes to accessing electronic data - if critical patient data cannot be accessed when needed, it can lead to devastating consequences including increased patient risk, financial loss, and damage to physician and hospital reputations," said John Lightfoot, Chief Technology Officer, Orion Health North America.

"Orion Health is pleased to find a great technological fit for its Concerto Physician Portal - one that works without additional configuration during deployment and offers customers a simple, easy-to-use solution that is proven to protect against data loss."

"The medical grade ftServer platform has a growing presence on the front lines of healthcare information systems as medical practices computerize their patient care systems," said Alan Gilbert, healthcare practice leader for Stratus Technologies. "Orion Health customers must have the highest levels of data and systems availability possible, and Stratus ftServer systems ensure this."

Stratus Technologies offers three models of continuously available servers: the entry-level ftServer 2510 System; the mid-range ftServer 4410 System, a dedicated business processing application server that is also ideal for space-constrained data centers; and the high-end ftServer 6210 System for transaction-intensive enterprise-class applications. All ftServer systems employ quad-core Intel processor technology, are easy to deploy and manage, and deliver the highest levels of uptime reliability in the industry today

The Orion Health Concerto Physician Portal provides a universal, easy-to-use solution that delivers accurate patient information and results where and when clinical staff needs it to increase diagnostic accuracy, improve patient safety and reduce costs. Data integrated and viewed can include up-to-date lab results, treatment and medications orders, and clinical notes, all enabling physicians to deliver the highest quality of care possible, responding quickly and efficiently. This can eliminate unnecessary tests and procedures, reducing costs and streamlining patient care from admission through to follow up.

CRUISE LINES TO SET NEW MANDATORY SAFETY AND ENVIRONMETNAL STANDARDS

CRUISE LINES TO SET NEW MANDATORY SAFETY AND ENVIRONMETNAL STANDARDS

(PRWEB) February 10, 2001

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Molly McPherson 703-522-8463

Arlington, VA (February 5, 2001) – The International Council of Cruise Lines (ICCL) announced today its members have unanimously agreed to set mandatory policies for cruise ship passenger and crew safety, security, environment, operational procedures, health safety, and sanitation. These new policies mark the first time an association of international maritime operators has adopted mandatory standards on such a wide-ranging set of topics. Adherence to the policies now will be required for continuation of membership in the association.

“This major step for the cruise line industry establishes standards in areas that go above and beyond both U. S. and international requirements,” said Michael Crye, ICCL president. “Since 1980, more than 60 million passengers have safely traveled on cruise lines. The industry wants to ensure that this excellent and enviable safety record continues.”

Existing U. S. and international regulations require compliance on a broad range of safety, environmental and health issues. These regulatory regimes however, differ in some respects. The new ICCL mandatory standards will meet or exceed U. S. or international standards in those areas addressed. For example, existing regulations require cruise ships to have smoke detectors sounding only on the bridge. New mandatory industry standards will require each ICCL member vessel to have smoke alarms that sound in all passenger and crew state rooms and adjacent corridors as well as on the bridge.

“Mandatory standards are another proactive step in maintaining the cruise industry’s position as the safest and most environmentally friendly form of maritime transportation available,” said ICCL Chairman, Richard Fain. “We take our commitment to our passengers and the environment very seriously.”

For most of the existing guidelines, each member line will integrate these industry standards into its Safety Management System (SMS), which will ensure compliance through internal audits and external audits conducted by independent third-party auditors. These audits are part of the SMS, which is mandated by the International Safety Management (ISM) code. The ISM Code is a requirement that became applicable to internationally operating passenger ships in 1998.

Examples of current ICCL policy guidelines, which will become mandatory industry standards as a result of this decision, include the following areas:

·Safety (i. e. Lifejackets, Helicopter pick-up area, Infant Personal Flotation Devices)

·Locally-Sounding Fire Alarms

·Security (i. e. Zero Tolerance for Crime, Passenger Safety)

·Environment (i. e. Waste Management Practices and Procedures)

·Medical (i. e. Facilities, Equipment, and Staff Qualifications)

Each of the existing guidelines will be reviewed within an ICCL working group and updated as necessary. When appropriate, the guideline will then become a mandatory industry standard. Compliance with the standard will become a condition of membership in ICCL.

# ICCL #

ICCL is a cruise industry trade association that represents the interests of 16 passenger cruise lines in the North American cruise market and more than 65 cruise industry suppliers. ICCL member lines operate 95 vessels that call upon major ports in the United States and abroad. These vessels carry more than six million passengers each year and account for approximately 90% of the North American passenger cruise line industry.

Tooth Soap® Cleans Up At NaturalNews. com Awards Winning Best Dental Product for 2008

Tooth Soap® Cleans Up At NaturalNews. com Awards Winning Best Dental Product for 2008

Tooth Soap®, the all-natural alternative to toothpaste, brushed away the competition winning NaturalNews. com's coveted Editor's Choice Award.

Oregon City, OR (PRWEB) June 12, 2008

Tooth Soap®, the all-natural alternative to traditional toothpaste won the highly-respected Editor's Choice Award from The NaturalNews. com Network, a non-profit collection of public education websites covering topics that empower people to make positive changes in their health, environment and consumer choices.

The 2008 award-winning Tooth Soap®, which comes in a variety of flavors -- including citrus, peppermint and chocolate -- is based in Oregon City, Oregon and is the brainchild of entrepreneur Karen Adler who developed the easy to use liquid soap as a way to get her own kids to brush.

Adler, who describes the Tooth Soap® experience as "a power wash for your teeth" created the company in 2003 and says winning the coveted award is "Fantastic! It's a pleasure to see Tooth Soap® honored in this way, especially by NaturalNews. com as they are such a cutting edge and reliable information source for health and wellness."

Adler adds that Tooth Soap® has always been a winner because it's the natural alternative to toothpaste. "Tooth Soap® cleans teeth and gums perfectly, removing oils and other contaminants from the teeth, unlike conventional tooth cleansing products that can coat the teeth with sticky residue. Most importantly, teeth brushed with Tooth Soap® facilitate re-mineralization from nutrients in saliva."

Adler's mission for cleaning teeth using natural soap starts with all-natural ingredients like organic extra virgin olive oil and wild-crafted essential oil among others, and it's her obvious passion. "Research demonstrates that pure soap is the best product one can use to improve and maintain optimum dental health. Unlike pure soap, currently available oral care products contain chemicals such as fluoride, added sticky glycerin, dyes and artificial flavors and sweeteners that can turn some consumers off," Alder said. And with the ever-growing Green movement and the ongoing search for products that are non-toxic and chemical free, Tooth Soap® fits the bill perfectly because most of its ingredients are ones you'd find in your own kitchen.

Tooth Soap® was the subject of an article written by the Columbia News Service, a news provider for the New York Times, citing its growing number of loyal customers and its eleven yummy flavors.

Adler can be heard on radio programs, such as BigMediaUSA's program, "WHATever" with host, Hollywood correspondent Gayl Murphy and the "Health Ranger Show" with Mike Adams.

WU's Olin and Brown Schools Offer New MBA/MPH Dual Degree

WU's Olin and Brown Schools Offer New MBA/MPH Dual Degree

MBA/MPH to meet growing demands of health-care industry

Saint Louis, MO (PRWEB) October 1, 2010

A new dual master's degree program in business administration and public health (MBA/MPH) is being offered to meet the growing demand for business-savvy, public policy-minded health-care managers, announced officials from the Olin Business School and the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis.

The two schools will administer the program that offers students a uniquely interdisciplinary approach to understanding and managing the complex challenges in the health-care industry.

“The time is right for this degree,” says Timothy D. McBride, PhD, professor and associate dean for public health at the Brown School. “Implementing national health reform will be a key priority for many years.”

“Now more than ever, all sectors of the health care industry need to understand how these reforms affect the delivery and financing of medical care,” McBride says. “A joint degree in public health and business offers students a rich understanding of business, economics and policy and gives them the tools needed to help implement health reform now and into the future.”

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U. S. health-care industry will generate more than three million jobs this decade. In addition to doctors and nurses, well-trained managers whose expertise bridges the worlds of business and health care are vital in the new era of health-care reform.

Graduates with the dual MBA/MPH degree will have the interdisciplinary functional and critical-thinking skill set needed for distinctive impact and long-run leadership in hospitals and pharmaceutical firms, health-care consulting, policy think tanks, public administration and other management roles across the health-care industry spectrum.

WUSTL’s MBA/MPH program will combine the foundational courses of graduate-level business and public health degrees with a total of 87 course hours and require two-and-one-half to three years to complete.

Applicants must be accepted into the existing MBA and MPH programs and must apply for the dual degree before the end of their first year of study in either graduate program.

“Washington University has a longstanding tradition of offering timely, uniquely collaborative dual-degree programs at the graduate level,” says Joe Fox, associate dean and director of MBA programs.

“The MBA/MPH degree is a direct response to the needs of the health-care industry which accounts for a huge fraction of our economy and is the subject of continuous policy and implementation debate,” Fox says. “It is a critical subject matter for future business leaders in the U. S. and around the world.”

WUSTL’s highly ranked Schools of Medicine, Social Work and Business will provide a unique set of resources to students in the new MBA/MPH program, which is destined to set its graduates apart with unparalleled advantages to succeed in the health-care sector.

There Oughta Be A Law: NY Poised to Lead U. S. in Fight to Stop Workplace Bullying

There Oughta Be A Law: NY Poised to Lead U. S. in Fight to Stop Workplace Bullying

Years of tirelessly walking up and down the long winding halls of Albany's state capitol may finally pay off for victims of severe psychological harassment who are lobbying for the right to sue their abusive employers. Their stories and others are featured in the online documentary, NoJobIsWorthThis. com

Albany, NY (PRWEB) May 20, 2010

New York’s State Senate recently passed landmark legislation that steps up the fight against bully bosses. But, traumatized workers won’t find relief until the Assembly side of the state legislature passes its own version and the Governor signs off. Not an easy task.

This struggle is part of a national effort by the Workplace Bullying Institute's Legislative Campaign and makes up the heart of the online documentary, THERE OUGHTA BE A LAW: NoJobIsWorthThis. com produced by award-winning filmmaker Beverly Peterson.

Mike Schlicht and Tom Witt, State Coordinators of New York Healthy Workplace Advocates, have spearheaded and led the Albany effort for several years and the sudden swift movement by the State Senate took them by surprise. They call it "a hopeful sign that during this age of bitter political partisanship, senators from both sides of the aisle had the humanity and good sense to recognize that psychologically safe workplaces benefit us all."

Also highlighted on Peterson's website is a tragic story from Wisconsin. Barely 31 years old, Jodie left behind 2 young children, a loving husband and devastated relatives and friends. Lisa and her family struggle to understand why her sister's supervisor "kept badgering her and backing her into a corner...my sister just felt helpless." Along with the videos, the site offers visitors a chance to post their own stories, as well as links to resources, articles, and research studies. In June, Peterson travels to Cardiff, Wales to present her work at the 7th International Conference on Workplace Bullying & Harassment.

State Senator Thomas Morahan, the bill's Senate sponsor, is not seeking re-election and his office says they hope there's enough pressure to speed the bill through the Assembly before the end of this session. Schlicht says he feels confident about a vote since the advocates are "just two sponsors short of having one third of the Assembly signed onto their version of the bill." But before that can happen, it still has to make it out of the Labor Committee where it's been stuck since last year. The Wall Street Journal reports that the committee's chair, Susan John, feels it may drive business out of the state. And, what the Governor will ultimately do is up in the air. This time last year, he cited budgetary constraints and vetoed a bill to study how to legislate hostile work environments. Had he put his pen on the dotted line the study results would be in place right about now to help guide lawmakers toward a legal solution.

Beverly Peterson's documentaries have been broadcast internationally, and screened at major festivals including; HBO, PBS The Sundance Channel, The Sundance Film Festival, Human Rights Watch, Museum of Modern Art, Brooklyn Museum of Art, The Walker Art Center, The Warhol Museum, The Kitchen. 71 West Broadway: Ground Zero, New York, NY was selected as part of the memorial presentation at the Library of Congress, which has included it in the national 9/11 film archive. Portions of Invisible Revolution, were featured on ABC’s 20/20, Dateline, and HBO specials on domestic terrorism.
