Loughton-based HCL Healthcare Presents £43,535 to Haven House Children’s Hospice
HCL Healthcare, the market leading recruitment agency for health professionals and a part of HCL plc, today presented a cheque for £43,535 to Haven House, the Woodford Green based children’s hospice.

HCL Healthcare, the market leading recruitment agency for health professionals and a part of HCL plc, today presented a cheque for £43,535 to Haven House, the Woodford Green based children’s hospice.
Loughton-based HCL Healthcare, which supplies allied health professionals and health science staff to the NHS and private sector, has been actively involved in fundraising for Haven House for the past three years, and has raised approximately £75,000 in that time. The company set itself a target of £20,000 for 2010, and succeeded in raising £21,767.56.
This impressive total was achieved by a range of traditional and more unusual fundraising activities including voluntary salary sacrifice, sponsored goatee-growing, a festive fun run, a black and white minstrel ball and, for Managing Director Daren Reisman, a daring crossing of the Grand Canyon on a zip-line.
As a mark of support HCL plc, HCL Healthcare’s parent company, agreed to match the amount raised, bringing the total to £43,535.12. Mr Reisman delivered a cheque for the donation to Haven House today. The event was also attended by Ian Sparks OBE, Chief Executive of Haven House, and some of the hospice’s young residents.
The staff of HCL Healthcare say they fully intend to break their own fundraising record for Haven House in 2011 and have already planned a series of daring and unusual stunts, including a bungee-jump off the 1,149 ft Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas, and a “white collar” boxing match between Mr Reisman and an opponent in Essex in mid-April.
Daren Reisman said:
“All of us at HCL Healthcare feel proud and privileged to be able to support Haven House. The hospice is a fantastic home from home which enables young people with serious health conditions to live life to the full, and to spend quality time with their families. We really challenged ourselves this year to smash our £20,000 target and had a fantastic time doing so – and we’re very pleased that our parent company has agreed to match the amount we raised. Our focus now is on 2011, when we hope to raise even more cash.”
Ian Sparks OBE, Chief Executive of Haven House said:
“HCL Healthcare have been amazing supporters of Haven House over the past three years. They are passionate about our work, enthusiastic in their fundraising and always have fun while supporting us. Daren Reisman has led the way for his team with his zip wire crossing of the Grand Canyon and his planned bungee jump later this year.”
