Sensaphone® Introduces Comprehensive Integrated Monitoring System

Sensaphone IMS-4000 Remote Monitoring System is Design Specifically to Monitor and Protect Computer Networks and IT Devices

ASTON, PA (PRWEB) March 11, 2004 –-

Sensaphone®, a pioneer in the design and development of remote monitoring systems for business and industry, introduces the IMS-4000 infrastructure monitoring system, the first comprehensive, integrated remote system capable of simultaneously monitoring computer networks and IT devices. The IMS-4000 remote monitoring system includes the Sensaphone IMS-4000 host unit, the Sensaphone IMS-4000 PowerGate2, and the Sensaphone IMS-4000 Node, along with an extensive suite of sensors and accessories.

The IMS-4000 system monitors critical environmental conditions – temperature, humidity, smoke, water, intrusion, and power outages – in the computer room environment. When potentially dangerous environmental conditions occur, the Sensaphone IMS-4000 alerts IT managers so they can take the necessary steps to prevent lost network functionality and maintain business productivity.

“The IMS-4000 is road-ready for IT managers,” said James Fairburn, director of sales and marketing for Sensaphone. “With the industry’s only real-voice capability, the IMS-4000 delivers critical information to you wherever you are and whenever you need it through the most common communication channels such as fax, e-mail, phone, pagers or PDAs.”

The IMS-4000 system monitors computer networks and IP devices through pinging and port availability. The system can monitor the status of network links, routers, printers, and servers – any device which has an IP address.

PowerGate2

The IMS-4000 PowerGate2, the latest addition to the IMS-4000 offering, is a rack-mounted, intelligently controlled outlet strip designed with eight outlets to allow remote rebooting of network equipment via e-mail, telephone, or through events that occur in the network. The eight outlets on the IMS-4000 PowerGate2 supply a max of 15 amps of current and are protected by a 15 amp breaker. The IMS-4000 PowerGate2 can be automatically or manually switched on or off via the IMS-4000 Host or IMS-4000 Node.

IMS-4000 Node

The IMS-4000 Node extends the system’s monitoring capability across multiple locations and offers 64 additional IP addresses, eight more environmental sensors, and additional power monitoring. The IMS-4000 system has a central host, an internal UPS, flash-disk storage, and a web server. It is packaged in a simple-to-install 1U rack-mountable package.

Additional IMS-4000 features include:

Variety of Remote Communication Channels

Alarm messages are sent using a wide variety of channels – through the network via e-mail or an SNMP trap, through the phone lines with real-voice messages, via fax, and directly to pagers or PDAs. “Limiting system communication to the network doesn’t do you much good if your network is already down,” said Fairburn. “The IMS-4000 is unique in that it talks to you … and during a critical IT event, having accurate and detailed information arrive quickly wherever you are – and in whatever medium you desire – is the difference between catastrophe and minor-event.” In addition, the IMS-4000 can be completely customized to contact different people depending on the problem or the time of day.

Scalable for Networks of All Sizes

The IMS-4000 is the first scalable system capable of protecting networks of all sizes and complexities. The product is designed to grow along with the infrastructure, allowing up to 31 IMS nodes for a total of 256 environmental variables, a total of 2,048 TCP/IP addresses, and power in 32 separate locations. Such scalability allows the IMS-4000 to expand without additional technology investment.

Additional IMS-4000 Technology Features

At the core of the IMS-4000 is a Linux operating system (OS) that provides an extremely stable and flexible foundation. The OS is programmed to continuously generate Web pages, making the most updated monitoring status accessible at all times, from any location.

Fault-tolerant, the IMS-4000 has no moving components and nonvolatile storage to eliminate disk disruption. In addition, built into the IMS-4000 is a completely independent battery backup and power supply, so monitoring continues even if any part of the network experiences a power outage.

The IMS-4000’s data-logging feature provides full event history and an audit trail allowing managers to store critical temperature, humidity, or other environmental information, plus detect alarm occurrence. Data logging also tracks user access to infrastructure by the minute, hour, or day.
