HCCUA President Dr. Lynn S. Morgan Delivers Keynote Speech at National Science Foundation Conference
Dr. Morgan’s speech and workshop presented Harvard research on Multiple Intelligences Theory

At the recent conference of the National Science Foundation in Taos, New Mexico, Dr. Lynn S. Morgan, President of the Healthcare Cost Containment United Association, Inc. (http://www. hccua. org (http://www. hccua. org)), gave a Keynote Speech and Workshop spanning two days. The presentation, entitled Many Ways of Knowing: An Introduction to Multiple Intelligences, was given to Directors and CEO’s of Southwestern Science Centers and Native Museums as part of a National Science Foundation grant to foster a conference entitled, "Cosmic Serpent - Bridging Native and Western Learning in Museum Settings”. The conference was co-sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the University of California, Berkeley Science and Space Laboratory, and the Indigenous Education Institute.
Dr. Morgan’s presentation on Multiple Intelligences highlighted the salient features of Multiple Intelligences Theory as developed by Dr. Howard Gardner who is currently the Hobbs Professor of Cognition and Education at Harvard University Graduate School of Education, co-Director of Project Zero at Harvard University, and adjunct Professor of Neurology at the Boston University School of Medicine. Her presentation covered both theoretical and practical applications for integrating Multiple Intelligences Theory into the development, structure, and delivery of museum and science exhibits.
Dr. Morgan also demonstrated how ancient wisdom and many ways of indigenous knowledge are enhanced and augmented throughout Multiple Intelligences Theory, and she gave several multicultural illustrations for each of the nine Multiple Intelligences. Conference attendees were given tools, learning packets and large and small group opportunities to brainstorm and develop ideas for museum and science center exhibits using Multiple Intelligences Theory.
Dr. Morgan, who has served as President of HCCUA since 2008, is renowned for her expertise and research in the areas of multicultural counseling, medical education, and educational research. She is a frequent headline speaker at conferences focused on behavioral science, educational leadership, and innovative teaching practices, and is a passionate advocate of education and health initiatives supporting indigenous populations.
