IdeaStar Inc., (http://www. ideastar. com)a (http://www. ideastar. com)a) nationally known developer of interactive insurance Web sites, earned high recognition recently at the A. M. Best Co. E-Fusion Insurance Technology conference in Baltimore.

IdeaStar's client, AmericaÂ’s Health Care/RxPlan Agency, Inc. was one of six finalists in this yearÂ’s E-Fusion competition. The companyÂ’s Web site (http://www. ameri-choice. com (http://www. ameri-choice. com)) specializes in distributing economically-priced individual medical plans and related products for individuals and small employers. Last year, another IdeaStar client earned honorable mention for the A. M. Best E-Fusion 2003 award. This mid-sized health carrierÂ’s site set new standards for quote-through-issue in on-line individual/family life and health insurance.

The prestigious awards recognize innovative, business-focused uses of Internet technology by insurance organizations. As a two-time honoree, IdeaStar earned its reputation as a design and development leader in the online insurance industry. The company specializes in innovative design, rapid development, custom solutions, and easy systems integration for an insurance companyÂ’s front-end on-line needs.

For example, www. ameri-choice. com provides basic information on available plans, plan details, and premium quotes. Actual enrollment, however, is designed to take place with agent participation, most often over the phone. With a health insurance expert involved, the enrollment process is fast and efficient. The technology driving the system produces results in a matter of seconds. IdeaStarÂ’s dynamic content editing program is installed on designated pages to make it easy for AHCP personnel to keep the site current and fresh. An agent enrollment system and an agent resource center are also heavily used by agents, the agency, and the home office.

The site went live in 2003 and has been smashing sales records ever since, generating in excess of $3.5 million in revenue per month and growing. The main site was completed in 18 weeks, and has already been significantly up-graded and replicated for two other brands under Insurance Capital Management Inc. (ICM).

As finalists, Mike Wise, IdeaStar vice president of Insurance Technology, and ICM President Mike Owens gave presentations during the E-Fusion conference. They demonstrated the site and outlined its business benefits.

“We gained a lot of recognition and made a lot of good contacts,” Mike Wise said. “The whole process shows the success of our efforts,” he said.

Mike Owens said “Insurance Capital Management – and its affiliate companies – have endeavored to use Web-based tools to remain truly paperless. Being a finalist for the A. M. Best E-Fusion award validates our efforts at being the premier agent-endorsed, insurance sales and transaction Web site.”

IdeaStar is known for innovative Web technology that delivers solid business value, especially for insurance. In addition to its current insurance clients, the company is involved with two new insurance projects.

One will offer ancillary health and life insurance benefits to over 8 million association members. Functionality will include online quoting, application submission, a downloadable library of product information and forms, customer service, and consumer education. The site is being built for compatibility with the search engines to further support the client's marketing objectives.

The other involves a leading writer of property insurance programs. The company has asked IdeaStar to expand its services online. Work will include designing a content-managed Web site complete with agent enrollment and an agent transaction center for submitting paperless insurance applications for umbrella insurance. The site will also be search engine friendly for enhanced marketing impact.
