Carefx Corporation today announced that the Unityfx™ product suite built on IBM’s WebSphere* e-business infrastructure, will provide the healthcare IT industry with context management tools for WebSphere and JSR 168-compliant portlets.

Portal products in the Java market space increasingly support the JSR 168 standard, which provides a guaranteed set of capabilities for a portlet container and allows portlets to operate on multiple portal platforms. The Unityfx Portal and Portlet Enablers™ extend the JSR 168 standard to provide context management for portlets to share user, patient, and other context information across portlets and portals.

The Unityfx Portal Enabler allows WebSphere to be a CCOW context participant and portlets within WebSphere to share context. The Unityfx tools will enable customers to benefit from seamless application interoperability via the Web, as well as tighter integration with legacy applications.

"Interoperability and investment protection are key concerns among healthcare organizations today," said Terrence Macaleer, Carefx Chief Executive Officer. "By working with IBM to develop an open standards based solution, we are helping healthcare organizations address these concerns by giving the clinician one-step access to pertinent clinical data from diverse systems and creating a valuable tool for improving patient safety and cliniciansÂ’ workflow."

Carefx Corporation, along with its partners, provides healthcare organizations with easy to use, secure, and cost effective solutions. These solutions apply state of the art technology to existing information systems to provide interoperability, investment protection, and regulatory compliance, which in turn improve patient care, reduce costs, and increase clinical productivity.
