Women Invited to Golf in Fourth Annual SWING Tournament Scheduled for Womenfest

The fourth annual Southernmost Women's Invitational Non-Profit Golf Tournament will be held at Key West Golf Club on Friday, September 7, 2007 to benefit WomanKind, Inc. The annual festival for women help in Key West, Womenfest, is being sponsored by large companies and local resorts such as Pearl's Rainbow.

Key West, FA (PRWEB) August 12, 2007

This year's annual Womenfest plays host to the fourth annual S. W.I. N.G. Tournament (Southernmost Women's Invitational Non-Profit Golf). The Womenfest is scheduled to take place September 4 to 9, 2007. S. W.I. N.G. was the created by several of Key West's local businesswomen and golf-loving friends and has become one of WomanKind's most important fundraisers of the year.

The best-ball scramble (aka Captain's Choice) tournament takes place on September 7th at 7:15 a. m. with an 8:15 a. m. shot-gun start and includes a $10,000 hole-in-one prize sponsored by Key West Bank. Last year local Jane Rohrscheider won a round-trip travel package for two for a hole-in-one on hole 16.

This year, the first place team will take home $400 in cash (sponsored by Cypress House), with additional cash prizes for second and third place. Other prizes will include closest-to-the-pin on two holes, straightest drive, longest drive and longest putt. The less-experienced have the opportunity to win prizes for the most balls lost and the last place team.

Sponsors to date include Key West Bank, EyeCatcher Display, Cypress House, The Gardens Hotel, Margaritaville, Starbucks, U. S. Foods, Little Switzerland, Affiliated Design and Construction, Aqua Nightclub, Key West Deco, La Te Da, Mitzi Krabill of Truman & Co., Pampered Pet, Pearl's Rainbow, Rick's/Dirty Harry's, Spike's Fitness and the T-Shirt Factory.

While women may register in teams of four, the SWING coordinators are helping to group individuals and smaller parties into foursomes. The entry fee is $85.00 per person and includes admission to the kick-off party on Thursday night; greens fees; breakfast; lunch prepared by Chef Warren from Jamaican Me Hungry; soda, water, beer and Jell-O shots on the course; a goodie bag (including golf balls, drink coolers and more); and admission to the awards ceremony at the Tropic Cinema at 6:00 p. m. after the tournament.

This year's event will begin before the tournament with a kick-off party at Pearl's Rainbow (www. pearlsrainbow. com) featuring live music by favorite BEVERLY McCLELLAN from the Ft. Lauderdale area. She plays a broad range of music and has been compared to performers like Melissa Etheridge, Sarah McLaughlin and Cold Play. Drink specials and plenty of hors d'oeuvres from Chef Irene are also featured at the party. The event is open to golfers, non-golfing women, and to male friends (for the first time) for a $15 donation to WomanKind, Inc.

All proceeds for both the SWING Tournament and the kick-off party go to WomanKind, Inc., the non-profit health agency providing high-quality affordable health care by women, for women in the Keys across the lifespan.
