Etta Says!™ Celebrates One Year Anniversary of Founding and Tremendous Growth

Etta Says!™ Celebrates One Year Anniversary of Founding and Tremendous Growth

Etta Says!™ celebrates its one year anniversary in December 2006 and announces significant year over year company growth. Etta Says! creates natural healthy, yet fun pet products, including 3 flavors of Liver Treats.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) December 12, 2006

Etta Says!™, an innovative pet products company offering natural, healthy yet fun products for dogs and cats, celebrates its one year anniversary this month. Etta Says! is proud to announce that its products, including 3 flavors of freeze-dried Liver Treats, can now be found in more than 100 independent retailers in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, New York, and Massachusetts.

"As the owner of three miniature dachshunds, I realized a market need for treats that were the right size for small dogs. I was tired of breaking up large treats, or settling for smaller 'junk food' type treats. I was really looking for a small treat that was healthy and natural, yet fun and playful. Visiting local pet stores turned up few products that fit the bill. I knew that I was not the only small dog owner searching for this type of product," said Sue Willoughby, Etta Says! founder and owner.

Willoughby continued, "The nine months spent in research and development was a blast, but was also challenging. The dachshunds loved tasting all the treat samples, but they do not always have the most discriminating palates. Therefore I had to enlist other, more finicky canine testers to help narrow the product field. Once a winning formula was nailed down, branding and packaging became the focus, because I knew this would be the key to setting us apart in the pet treat market."

This month Etta Says! celebrates one year of business, achieving record growth, rocketing from less than 15 customers in 2005 to well over 100 customers in 2006. During the course of the year, Etta Says! received significant media recognition for the popularity and originality of its Liver Treats; including recognition as Top Dog Treat by City Dog Magazine, and hot new product profiles in Modern Dog, Pet Product News and Pet Business magazines.

The next year promises to be an exciting one for Etta Says! with plans underway to launch two new treats to the existing product line, continue national expansion, and break into the international market.

OnCore(r) 9.0 Released: 'Top 5' Priorities and Collaborative Initiatives Cornerstones of Product Development

OnCore(r) 9.0 Released: 'Top 5' Priorities and Collaborative Initiatives Cornerstones of Product Development

The latest version of the OnCore(r) clinical research management system epitomizes the collaborative development process of software developer, PercipEnz Technologies, Inc. Released April 27th, OnCore 9.0 not only sports a sleek new user interface but also incorporates over 200 enhancement requests provided by 20 research organizations.

Madison, Wis. (PRWEB) April 27, 2009

The latest version of the OnCore(r) clinical research management system (http://www. percipenz. com/highlights90.php) epitomizes the collaborative development process of software developer, PercipEnz Technologies, Inc. Released April 27, OnCore 9.0 not only sports a sleek new user interface but also incorporates over 200 enhancement requests provided by 20 research organizations.

"This version of OnCore brings together enhancements that have been under development for almost a year through multiple collaborative initiatives," said Tony O'Hare, PhD, chief scientific officer at PercipEnz.

OnCore product development is heavily guided by collaborative projects (http://www. percipenz. com/collaboration. php) in which dedicated individuals from various OnCore centers devote their time and energy into planning, implementing and evaluating new functionality in the OnCore system. One such project comes out of the Compliance Collaborative Initiative, which resulted in the new Audit Console. The new functionality allows centers to conduct internal audits of clinical research records managed within, and outside of, OnCore.

In addition to collaborative initiatives, about one-third of the recent enhancements came from users via PercipEnz's "Top 5" program. In this program each research organization (http://www. percipenz. com/centers-map. php) that uses OnCore is asked to submit their top enhancement requests. Then, PercipEnz commits to implementing as many of the requests as possible in the subsequent version of OnCore.

"The Top 5 program is a reflection of our commitment to ensure that individual OnCore centers' priorities are addressed along with the collective needs of the broader research community," said Srini Kalluri, president & CEO of PercipEnz.

Probably the most noticeable enhancement in version 9.0 is the new menu system. Users will benefit from easier navigation by the elimination of scrolling and a more consolidated menu structure with drop-down menus.

No functional area of the system was untouched by this development initiative. Everything from Protocol and Subject Life Cycle Management to Biospecimen Management has been enhanced in some way.

Key enhancements to Protocol and Subject Life Cycle Management (http://www. percipenz. com/clinical. php) functionality include improved tracking of staff activities, the addition of user-defined annotations, the ability to track additional Investigational New Drug (IND) and Investigational Device Exemptions (IDE) information, and new data export capabilities.

"Special mention must be made of all the centers who collaborated with us on this version," said O'Hare. "For example, it was collaborator input that helped us hone the Financials Management functionality to better support very large, multi-disciplinary research institutes."

The Financials Management functionality in OnCore underwent major transformation with Version 9.0, which now includes such functionality as the ability to manage multiple versions of charge masters and the ability to view and email billing slips for subject visits.

The OnCore system for biospecimen management (http://www. percipenz. com/bio. php) (OnCore-BSM) was also greatly enhanced in the latest version. Enhancements include improved configurability of specimen collection schedules for correlative studies, new specimen annotation capabilities, and an extensible dashboard which provides a snapshot of repository activities.

Less noticeable to the everyday user, but increasingly important in today's research environment, is the fact that OnCore 9.0 represents a single clinical and translational research platform for all organizations whether they be a small, single-department cancer center or a very large multi disciplinary research organization. Because all 26 centers that use OnCore are working within the same clinical informatics platform, old barriers to inter-institutional data exchange are eliminated.

Version 9.0 corresponds closely with the launch, in February of this year, of the Crescendo Clinical & Translational Research Exchange. OnCore 9.0 is fully integrated with Crescendo (http://www. percipenz. com/news-Crescendo) services, which include:

1. Inter-Institutional Data Exchange--allowing seamless transfer of protocols and subject demographics between centers that use OnCore.

2. Metrics and benchmarks--aggregating anonymized data from OnCore centers and allowing individual centers to compare their performance to aggregated averages.

3. IIT Search--allowing people to locate investigator initiated trials conducted at participating OnCore centers.

For information about the OnCore research informatics platform, contact PercipEnz Technologies at (608) 826-6000 or visit the company online at http://www. PercipEnz. com (http://www. PercipEnz. com).

Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, PercipEnz Technologies, Inc. develops enterprise-class clinical and translational research management software. The company's flagship product, the OnCore informatics system, is the nation's most widely adopted clinical research platform among academic research organizations and cancer centers.

The OnCore platform is the result of nearly a decade of experience working closely with large research organizations, including cancer centers and institutes funded by the National Institute of Health's Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) program. By actively engaging users throughout the development process, PercipEnz delivers solutions that address the underlying operational challenges facing organizations and their staff. The OnCore system is a proven, effective, and sustainable informatics infrastructure that supports streamlined clinical research operations. The platform is powerful and secure while providing the flexibility required by individual institutions to support their unique organizational structures and workflows.

Microsoft Windows Users and iYogi Reveal 36 Percent Plan to Upgrade to Windows 7 on Existing PCs, Yet Significant Concern Remains about Application Migration

User Poll Shows That 43 Percent Will Need Extra Technical Support as They Move to New OS

New York, NY (Vocus) October 6, 2009

iYogi, the on-demand tech services company with a unique global delivery model, announced today that an encouraging 36 percent of consumers expect to upgrade to Windows 7 on their existing PC. However, 68 percent are not entirely comfortable that they will be able to easily move their favorite applications over to the new Windows 7 (http://windows7.iyogi. net/) platform. And nearly half (43 percent) expect to need more tech support help in order to move their favorite applications over to the Windows 7 environment.

These facts are among the results of a poll of more than 500 consumers regarding adoption and application plans and predictions around the upcoming launch of the new Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.

Upgrade plans look healthy, with 28 percent expecting to move to Windows 7 this year alone. When asked what one word describes how they feel about the upcoming launch, 31 percent said "excited".

"We are very encouraged by the growing anticipation of the Windows 7 operating system, and from what we've seen it represents a significant improvement in the user interface and manageability for users," said Vishal Dhar, President of Marketing & Co-founder of iYogi. "However, our surveys show that more than 40 percent -- potentially tens of millions of people -- will require additional computer support (http://www. iyogi. net/computer-support. html) assistance of some kind this year."

Additional survey findings reveal:
61 percent think they will upgrade to Windows 7 at some point 48 percent will make the move by the end of 2010 35 percent think that difficulties porting their favorite applications over to Windows 7 will discourage them from moving to the new operating system More current Windows Vista users (35 percent) are excited about the upcoming Windows launch than Windows XP users (29 percent)

WhatÂ’s Best for Alex and Derek King Defense Lawyers are Encouraging Boys Town

WhatÂ’s Best for Alex and Derek King Defense Lawyers are Encouraging Boys Town

Pensacola, FL, October 31, 2002 — Alex and Derek King remain incarcerated at the Escambia County Jail after their verdict for second-degree murder without a weapon was overturned, while their lawyers prepare for mediation with the prosecution. On Thursday, November 7, James Stokes and Sharon Potter, attorneys for Alex and Derek King, will recommend that the State of Florida send Alex and Derek King to spend time as juveniles at Boys Town in Nebraska. A recent turn of events could have a negative effect on the results of mediation.

(PRWEB) November 2, 2002

In an apparent attempt to control the mediation process, a relative stranger from the King brothers past has reentered their lives with a high profile lawyer attempting to oust their current counsel. The boy’s “deadbeat mother,” Kelly Marino, who deserted them eight years ago, has filed paperwork to allow Jane Weintraub to replace current counsel of the brothers in a new trial.

Mrs. Weintraub, a Miami criminal lawyer, falsely took credit for Judge BellÂ’s decision to overturn the boysÂ’ verdict on October 17, 2002 during interviews on national television. She has guaranteed Mrs. Marino that she will be able to get Alex and Derek complete acquittals, free on bail pending a new trial.

In reality, Mrs. Weintraub did not assist Mr. Stokes preceding the motion for the King brothers new trial. Regarding a change in defense for the King brothers, Mr. Stokes sated, “I have my client, Alex’s best interest at heart. If for one minute I thought another attorney was in the child’s best interest, I would step aside.”

How can Mrs. Marino possibly believe she knows what the best interests of her sons would be after she willingly testified against her own son Alex, during the trial of Ricky Chavis? Mrs. Marino displayed similar concern for the boysÂ’ well being eight years ago, when she decided that it would be best if she walked out of her sonsÂ’ lives and has recently sold her story to the National Enquirer for several thousand dollars. During the past year she has seen the boys only four times while they have been incarcerated, has not written to her sons or offered them any financial assistance. Mrs. MarinoÂ’s judgment seems questionable once again, entrusting a person (Mrs. Weintraub) who has already proven in her recent interactions with the media to have questionable ethics.

Both Mr. Stokes and Mrs. Potter who stepped up to defend the boys pro bono feel that BoysTown is an excellent opportunity for them, to receive treatment and to start the healing process after the death of their father and a year of incarceration in isolation at the Escambia County Jail. Both attorneys feel this is the best possible option for the King brothers to grow into healthy, productive adults. Father Val J. Peter from BoysTown has been very generous in his offer to care for and treat Alex and Derek King.

Support groups for Alex and Derek began almost immediately on Internet chat groups and bulletin boards that evolved into a worldwide coalition. Its main goal is to bring justice to the King Brothers and a sense of what is right and proper back to the people of Florida and the country. All those hard working people have been working 24/7 for these efforts. The coalition involvement has resulted in a massive number of e-mails, and letters to the governor, legislators, and judges to protest this injustice. This coalition will not stop until justice is reached in the King Brothers case and Alex and Derek are released from the adult jail facility where they are being held. For more information, visit www. derekandalexking. org or http://home. triad. rr. com/seekjustice/ (http://home. triad. rr. com/seekjustice/). AHA Selects Healthcare Employee Opinion Surveys Provided by HR Solutions For Endorsement; HR Solutions' Product Added to AHA-endorsed Platform of Tools for Hospital HR Management

AHA Selects Healthcare Employee Opinion Surveys Provided by HR Solutions For Endorsement; HR Solutions' Product Added to AHA-endorsed Platform of Tools for Hospital HR Management

The American Hospital Association (AHA) announced today that following a lengthy due diligence process, it has selected the employee opinion surveys and related services provided by Chicago-based HR Solutions for its exclusive endorsement. This product will be the latest addition to a new platform of AHA-endorsed products designed to help the health care HR department effectively recruit, manage and retain talent in light of today's health care workforce shortage.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) January 20, 2007

The American Hospital Association (AHA) announced today that following a lengthy due diligence process, it has selected the employee opinion surveys and related services provided by Chicago-based HR Solutions for its exclusive endorsement. This product will be the latest addition to a new platform of AHA-endorsed products designed to help the health care HR department effectively recruit, manage and retain talent in light of today's health care workforce shortage.

HR Solutions is an international human capital management consulting firm that empowers organizations to increase their employee engagement and customer loyalty via its results-oriented survey instruments, consulting, training and development programs. The firm has helped thousands of health care and non-health care organizations with employee and customer satisfaction surveys, including Ascension Healthcare, BJC Health System, Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins Health System and Mayo Clinic. This vast experience provides health care clients with access to the largest national databases of health care employee opinions; vital in benchmarking employee feedback against peer organizations.

"We have been evaluating the marketplace for months, looking for the provider of employee satisfaction surveys that we could recommend to our 5,000 AHA hospital members," said Andrew Schoneich, assistant vice president strategic alliances for AHA Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the AHA. "What set HR Solutions apart from its competitors was its post-survey action planning and communication support. This is a firm that understands that just doing an employee opinion survey isn't enough, rather it's the actionable findings and end results that matter. Two of the primary reasons HR Solutions is the industry leader are their advanced-technology reporting and action-planning solutions, as well as their compelling cross-correlation analyses between patient and employee satisfaction data. Our reference calls with HR Solutions' impressive client list echoed this fact."

"We also liked the fact that because this firm has health care and non-health care clients, our hospitals will have access to Best Practice concepts from a variety of fields," added Schoneich. "Applying insights from outside health care is going to be crucial in helping hospitals retain satisfied, loyal employees in today's tight marketplace."

"We are honored to have our Employee Opinion services endorsed by the AHA, a century-old advocate for hospitals and health care organizations," states Kevin Sheridan, founder and CEO of HR Solutions. "This is an affirmation that our approach of going beyond the pure analytics of the survey tool to truly understanding employees' perception and helping management respond accordingly is on target. We look forward to working with more health care employers through our affiliation with the AHA, because we not only have a great respect for the work they do, but also insights that can help them to do their jobs even better."

For further information about the AHA-endorsed HR Solutions' offering, please contact Jeff Limp, Vice President, Marketing for HR Solutions, at (312) 863-6104 or visit www. hrsolutionsinc. com. AHA Solutions is proud to reinvest its profits in the AHA's mission: creating healthier communities.

AHA Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of the American Hospital Association, is compensated for the use of the AHA marks and for its assistance in marketing endorsed products and services. Stop Snoring America Introduces the “Do Your Life a Favor™” initiative with 1-888- SNORE2010

Stop Snoring America Introduces the “Do Your Life a Favor™” initiative with 1-888- SNORE2010

To Make the American Public More Aware of the Dangers of Snoring and Sleep Apnea, StopSnoringAmerica. com Introduces the “Do Your Life a Favor” ™ Initiative and the Toll-Free Phone Number 1-888-SNORE2010.

New York, NY (PRWEB) December 30, 2009

Snoring not only can destroy a relationship but also be associated with sleep apnea, a serious medical problem that can affect heart health and be related to high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, stroke, depression and even erectile dysfunction. Daytime sleepiness caused by the fragmented sleep of sleep apnea can lead to workplace and motor vehicle accidents.

To make the American public more aware of the dangers of snoring and sleep apnea, StopSnoringAmerica. com introduces the “Do Your Life a Favor”™ initiative.

The Do Your Life a Favor™ Initiative starts with a resolution to the snorer's bed partner in which the snorer promises to seek help to stop snoring and control sleep apnea in the new year.

Life can be tough for the bed partner of a snorer. The constant noise can destroy even the most stable relationship. Separate beds and ultimately separate rooms can lead to loss of intimacy. But the life of a snorer is not easy either. Snoring can lead to sleep apnea with its associated medical problems.

The Stop Snoring America resolution is a downloadable "contract" that the snorer can present to his/her bed partner as a New Year's gift. This is a first step toward ensuring a lasting relationship in good health.

By agreeing on to the resolution, the snorer promises to
1. Stop smoking
2. Lose weight
3. Cut down on the alcohol before bed time
4. Get evaluated for sleep apnea with a sleep test
5. Get professional treatment for snoring and sleep apnea

The addition of the Do Your Life a Favor initiative to our web site strengthens Stop Snoring America's resolve to do more to educate the public to the role dentistry plays in the recognition and management of snoring and sleep apnea.

Calling 1-888-SNORE2010 will connect the caller to a dentist who can provide relief in the form of a custom designed dental mouthpiece in their hometown or city.

Stop Snoring America is a division of Snoring Isn’t Sexy.

Glenn Close Interviews Iraq War Vet in Newest “Lively Licks” Blog Posting

Glenn Close Interviews Iraq War Vet in Newest “Lively Licks” Blog Posting

In her "Lively Licks" blog at FetchDog. com, actress Glenn Close interviews Bill Campbell, the first Iraq war veteran to receive a canine companion through the Dog Tags program. Bill and his yellow Lab, Pax, show us how the unique bond between man and dog can help people recover from serious physical and emotional trauma.

Portland, Me., (PRWEB) June 16, 2008

“If Pax were a car he’d be a 1970 Dodge Charger. Yellow, of course.” Former Army Sgt. Bill Campbell describes his dog this way and shares a lot of other heart-warming anecdotes in his “Lively Licks” interview with actress Glenn Close, posted today at FetchDog. com (http://www. fetchdog. com).

Pax is Labrador, not a car, and he and his fellow service dogs from Puppies Behind Bars (PBB) are busy brightening the lives of injured U. S. soldiers returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s part of the Dog Tags Program, initiated by Puppies Behind Bars in 2007 to supply service dogs, free of charge, to veterans who suffer from physical injuries or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Bill was injured by a roadside bomb just outside the Green Zone in Baghdad; the explosion caused traumatic brain injury and ongoing post-traumatic stress. He suffered nightmares, fear of open places and forgetfulness. Now, Bill and Pax confidently patrol the green streets of Mason County Oregon where they live. Pax’s sensitivity to Bill’s needs is so strong that he even reminds Campbell to take his medicine, and wakes him when he oversleeps. Sgt. Campbell is the first soldier in the country to receive a Dog Tags dog.

Bill shares his story with Ms. Close in the newest “Lively Licks” blog posting at FetchDog. com. Created by Ms. Close because of her life-long love of dogs, “Lively Licks” embraces the real life stories of ordinary people achieving extraordinary things in their lives thanks to man’s best friend.

“Since coming back from Iraq I have a poor sense of personal security,” says Campbell. “Pax is an extra set of eyes and ears and a great set at that. I trust him to alert me if something is out of the ordinary. He has freed me to do things like go running or enjoy one of my favorite hobbies, photography.”

In concert with Bill’s amazing story of courage and canine camaraderie, FetchDog has created a special “charity shop” in honor of Mr. Campbell. A percentage of all product sales logged through Bill’s shopping area in FetchDog will be donated to the Dog Tags program, whose motto is ‘service dogs for those who’ve served us.’

About FetchDog
FetchDog began as the dream of a bunch of dog-crazy friends with a common complaint—why was there no great place online to shop for our dogs or to connect with dog experts and other dog lovers?

We wanted products that were sturdy, practical, yet beautiful to look at; thoughtfully-designed items that would complement our lives and our lifestyles. Naturally healthy food, treats, and health care products free of chemicals and byproducts. Most of all, we wanted all these things in one convenient place.

That’s FetchDog. Shop with us, share with us, at http://www. fetchdog. com.

About Puppies Behind Bars

Through new programs like “Dog Tags,” Puppies Behind Bars is extending its helping paws to injured soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. “We have enhanced our medically based lifestyle programs to better fit individual’s goals and offer more flexibility,” said James Peters, M. Participants now have the option to register for three-day retreats and one - and two-week residential programs, or customize a stay for as long as they like. Clients select specific areas to improve their health, including diabetes management, heart health and cancer prevention. The core Transformations programs are:
Smoke-Free Life, which has helped thousands of individuals stop smoking. In fact, 65% of participants remain tobacco-free 12 months after completing the program, which is one of the best tobacco-cessation success rates in the nation.

Weight Management, which focuses on lasting results with an emphasis on learning to eat well and healthfully. Most participants experience dramatic metabolic changes in a few days, including lower cholesterol, blood pressure, and triglycerides. A chef prepares meals and teaches cooking classes. Participants also go on field trips with a registered dietician to restaurants and supermarkets to learn how to apply what they learn.

For program information and reservations, contact the St. Helena Center for Health at 800-920-3438 or visit www. NapaValleyHealthyLiving. org.

Established in 1968, the St. Helena Center for Health is located in northern California’s beautiful Napa Valley, about 70 miles north of San Francisco, on the campus of St. Helena Hospital. Its programs are supported by a foundation of clinically sound medicine, using a multidisciplinary approach. Teams of experts in the fields of medicine, psychology, nutrition, exercise, and stress management collaborate to address each participant’s unique needs and goals.

3 Adds Up to 14 at the ADDYs: Six-month-old Albuquerque Agency/Design Firm Earns 14 Gold and Silver ADDYs at New Mexico Advertising Federation's 2005 ADDY Awards

New agency "3" has a strong performance at ADDYs; two of 3’s partners are recognized for Best of Show for campaign created at previous agency.

Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) March 13, 2006

3, Albuquerque’s newest full-service ad agency/design firm, earned six gold and eight silver ADDY awards at this year’s statewide award show, earning the third-highest amount of gold ADDYs behind agencies Rick Johnson & Company and McKee Wallwork Cleveland. Work created during 2005 was eligible for judging; 3 had been open for only the last four months of last year.

In addition, two of 3’s partners, Sam Maclay and Tim McGrath, were Best of Show recipients for a United Blood Services campaign they helped create while at Rick Johnson & Company, their previous employer. It was Maclay’s fifth Best of Show award in a row as a creative director and the third Best of Show award for McGrath and Maclay as a creative team. The Best of Show award is the ADDYs’ top honor.

3 won gold ADDYs for work entered in print, design and interactive categories. Nearly 60% of the entries the agency submitted won some kind of recognition at the show, which had approximately 400 entries this year.

“It’s always fun to participate in the ADDYs, but this year we were thrilled to make an impact with our own agency after being open such a short time during 2005,” said Maclay, creative director of 3.

“It’s great to see the quality of advertising and design work being done in New Mexico.” said 3 Design Director McGrath. “The ADDYs serve as proof of our state’s creative potential and know-how in marketing and branding.”

Added Chris Moore, strategic director of 3, “The ADDYs provide a chance for everyone to see how creativity can effectively solve business and marketing challenges. This year’s judges were industry heavyweights, and we’re honored that much of our work was among their picks for New Mexico’s best advertising.”

About 3: 3 is a full-service advertising and design firm based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The firm’s partners have years of award-winning experience in branding, marketing and advertising/design for retail, healthcare, financial services, tourism, destination marketing, gaming, packaged goods, real estate, automotive, technology, agri-business, e-commerce, public service, and social cause categories. 3 was founded by Chris Moore, former management supervisor at McKee Wallwork Henderson, Sam Maclay, former vice president and creative director at Rick Johnson & Company, and Tim McGrath, former design director at Rick Johnson & Company. Pittsburgh Search Marketing Firm Elliance Helps American Healthcare Solutions Land Prestigious Client

Pittsburgh Search Marketing Firm Elliance Helps American Healthcare Solutions Land Prestigious Client

As a startup, AHS needed a Web site that positioned them as a major player in the healthcare consulting market. In May 2006, Pittsburgh search marketing firm, Elliance, began a complete Web site redesign and SEO campaign for AHS and proved there's a direct correlation between SEO and landing new accounts. Using SEO, AHS has increased traffic to their site, gotten more leads and formalized a recent contract with the esteemed National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) in partnership with Life Science Strategy Group.

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) April 16, 2008

When people think of finding a business online, the first thing that might come to mind is searching for a pizza parlor or a mechanic, but health care organizations and other businesses are searching for partners on the Web more than ever. Search engine optimization (SEO) is a burgeoning tactic to increase your rankings on search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN, and health care organizations need to jump on the bandwagon or be left in the dust.

American Healthcare Solutions (AHS), a health care consulting firm, discovered there's a direct correlation between SEO and landing new accounts. Using SEO, AHS has increased traffic to their site, gotten more leads and formalized a recent contract with the esteemed National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) in partnership with Life Science Strategy Group.

"We are extremely proud to have been selected from among some of the most prestigious consulting and health care consulting firms in the United States," said Jan Jennings, President and CEO of AHS.

Life Science Strategy Group found AHS through a search on Google and, without strategic SEO, the two organizations may have never connected and partnered with NMDP. This substantial contract with NMDP is just one facet of the growth AHS has seen due to SEO.

As a startup, AHS needed a Web site that was professional and positioned them as a major player in the market. In May 2006, Pittsburgh search marketing firm, Elliance, began a complete Web site redesign and SEO campaign for AHS. By optimizing Web pages and news releases for targeted keywords, Elliance was able to boost page rankings and drastically increase traffic to the AHS site, as well as leads.

"We were excited about helping AHS because they really understood the value of search marketing from the beginning," said Roger Slayton, VP of e-business at Elliance. "AHS came to us with a goal to increase leads and inquiries and we've been able to help them reach this goal."

From June 2006 to March 2008, AHS Web site traffic has increased 514% and search engine referrals have increased 941% as a result of Elliance's SEO efforts. All 14 key phrases are on the first page of Google, Yahoo and MSN results, with 21 of those #1 rankings. Revenue for SHARP Staffing and Productivity Services, a facet of AHS, has grown 10-fold.

The strategy in optimizing the AHS site was to optimize for broader, more competitive terms (like "healthcare consulting"), to widen the net for those who don't type in the exact service they're looking for, as well as optimizing for keywords that cover AHS' specific service offerings.

Sixty percent of search engine users click on the top three search results. Less than half of all users view page two results and they almost never make it to page three. Position is key - if your company isn't outranking its competition on search result pages, you're losing out on business.

CVAC™ Systems and GOING VERTICAL, San Diego to Study High School and College Athletes' Performance and the Effects of the CVAC Process as a Safe, Natural Training-enhancement Tool

CVAC™ Systems and GOING VERTICAL, San Diego to Study High School and College Athletes' Performance and the Effects of the CVAC Process as a Safe, Natural Training-enhancement Tool

Together, CVAC Systems and GOING VERTICAL, San Diego will study the effects of the cyclic variations in altitude conditioning™ (CVAC) process as part of the physical conditioning, athletic performance, and sports training activities that are ongoing at the San Diego-based training facility.

Temecula, CA (PRWEB) February 4, 2007

CVAC Systems, Inc. announced the installation of a system into the GOING VERTICAL Athletic Performance Training center in San Diego. GOING VERTICAL will study the value of the CVAC process in sports training programs for high school and college-level, elite and Olympic-hopeful athletes. The study, expected to commence in February, allows CVAC Systems, Inc. to explore this use in a commercial environment.

CVAC Systems comes into this agreement armed with initial scientific data supporting the claim that the CVAC process enhances physical fitness and relevant data from decades of published research focused on the benefits of high-altitude acclimatization and intermittent hypoxia in fitness and athletic enhancement. "We look forward to providing a safe alternative in athletic performance enhancement for the younger clientele served through GOING VERTICAL with the hope that young people will not be tempted to use banned performance-enhancing substances, especially when the CVAC has potential to provide so much more," said Allen J. Ruszkowski, President and CEO of CVAC Systems.

"We look forward to explore the viability of this process and its potential incorporation into sports training-enhancement programs," said Skip Dalrymple, GOING VERTICAL, San Diego.

About GOING VERTICAL, San Diego

GOING VERTICAL, San Diego is a state-of-the-art athletic performance training center where athletes of all sports, ages and abilities can improve their overall athleticism.

At GOING VERTICAL, the goal is to improve overall athleticism in three disciplines: SPEED, POWER and AGILITY. Utilizing innovative equipment and unique training techniques that have previously been reserved for the professional athlete, GOING VERTICAL produces consistently excellent results with their athletes. By focusing on the fundamentals of athleticism, these athletes accelerate improvement and ultimately enhance sports performance on their chosen "field" of play.

About CVAC Systems, Inc.

The CVAC process encompasses scientifically validated intermittent hypoxic (high altitude) training (IHT) to trigger the human body's natural high-altitude adaptation response. The high-altitude adaptation response is scientifically understood to evoke increases in oxygenation of tissues. The CVAC process has the proven ability to enhance tissue oxygenation and the potential ability to remove toxins from the body. This suggests that it could benefit individuals who experience the limit of human performance, whether it is a result of athletic exertion, sickness, or the aging process. Moreover, CVAC Systems is focusing its efforts to study the potential value of the CVAC process in managing and treating diabetes, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome.

You Don't have to have an Alcohol Problem to have a Problem with Alcohol - Learn How Alcohol Affects Health on National Alcohol Screening Day, April 7

You Don't have to have an Alcohol Problem to have a Problem with Alcohol - Learn How Alcohol Affects Health on National Alcohol Screening Day, April 7

National Alcohol Screening Day, held at thousands of sites across the country on April 7, 2005, is a one-day education and screening event designed to raise awareness on alcohol and health, help individuals evaluate their alcohol use, and provide referrals to local treatment and support resources for those who need further evaluation.

(PRWEB) March 29, 2005

“How much is too much?” A tough question with sometimes murky answers. But getting a clear-cut picture of what research does reveal and how it affects your health is only a few, simple questions away. National Alcohol Screening Day, April 7, is designed to tackle this question head on, letting each of us know exactly where to draw the line.

For most adults, moderate alcohol use causes few, if any, problems. But for some, any alcohol use may lead to significant health problems. Alcohol affects your body differently at different times in your life. To protect yourself, it is important to know the facts about alcohol and pay attention to how, when and why you drink.

Alcohol Facts:

· Women overall drink less than men but are more likely to experience adverse consequences including damage to the heart muscle, liver, and brain, trauma resulting from auto crashes, interpersonal violence, and death.

· As people grow older, their bodies are less able to handle alcohol safely. Alcohol-related problems, including interactions with prescription and over-the counter drugs, account for most of the known substance related problems experienced by older adults.

· Young persons reporting first use of alcohol before age 15 were more than five times as likely to have past alcohol dependence or abuse compared with persons who first used alcohol at age 21 or older.

· Alcohol can damage a fetus at any stage of pregnancy. Damage can occur in the earliest weeks of pregnancy, even before a woman knows that she is pregnant. Therefore, no amount of alcohol consumption can be considered safe during pregnancy.

· Moderate alcohol use is defined as up to two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women and older people. (One drink equals one 12-ounce bottle of beer or wine cooler, one 5-ounce glass of wine, or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof distilled spirits.)

To help determine how alcohol affects your health, attend one of the free, anonymous screenings held at thousands of sites across the country on National Alcohol Screening Day, April 7, 2005. This one-day education and screening event is designed to raise awareness on alcohol and health, help individuals evaluate their alcohol use, and provide referrals to local treatment and support resources for those who need further evaluation.

As part of the program, attendees will complete a brief written screening tool assessing their alcohol use and have the opportunity to talk privately with a health professional to discuss the next steps. The program is free and confidential.

National Alcohol Screening Day, held in April as part of Alcohol Awareness Month, is a program of the nonprofit Screening for Mental Health in collaboration with the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

To find a local screening site, call 1-877-311-NASD (6273) or visit http://www. NationalAlcoholScreeningDay. org (http://www. NationalAlcoholScreeningDay. org).

World's First Natural Memory Foam Crib Mattress

Essentia's patented natural memory foam mattresses now keep babies safe from chemicals.

Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) August 23, 2010

Essentia, makers of the World's only Natural Memory Foam mattresses, launch their La-La Natural Crib Mattress (http://www. myessentia. com/product-info. php? crib_mattress-pid22.html) via www. myessentia. com and Essentia retail stores. The La-La mattress is designed to be the healthy and green alternative to conventional crib mattresses.

The Center for Children's Health and the Environment at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (http://www. mountsinai. org/patient-care/service-areas/children/areas-of-care/childrens-environmental-health-center) in New York said "Today, children are exposed to thousands of substances in the environment, most of which have never been tested for toxicity to children. Environmental toxicants are suspected to be correlated with many disorders that...attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder, and autism are among the disorders that may be linked to environmental toxicants."

A typical crib mattress is filled with chemically derived foams, layered together with glue, treated to be water resistant and contain enough fire retardants able to withstand a 2 foot wide blowtorch open flame for 70 seconds, required by government regulations.

"Our position is that we want to avoid all possible chemical off gassing exposure to the body while sleeping" Says Jack Dell'Accio, CEO and founder of Essentia."

Essentia's La-La Natural Crib Mattresses contain only natural foams and covered in a removable organic cotton cover.

"When a family member was diagnosed with cancer, I did some research and found that a startling number of household items, including mattresses, emitted harmful toxins," said Jack Dell'Accio, CEO of Essentia. "Upon further investigation, I found that although toxin levels in crib mattresses met government standards, these levels weren't acceptable to me," he continued. "I spent 2 years developing a natural foam and that's when Essentia was born.

OU Physicians, Oklahoma City, OK -- a 10 Year Review

Created by the University Hospital Trust to serve the medical professors of the University of Oklahoma, OU Physicians has established a standard of efficient patient centered care for the south central region of the United States. This 178,000 square foot facility was designed to consolidate the private practices for physicians teaching at the University of Oklahoma and to provide a superior patient service experience.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) June 17, 2009

The medical planning team, comprised of AUHC (http://www. auhc. com) led by Dr. Andrew Lasser and Rees Associates, Inc. led by Lisa Matthews and Kathy Potts was successful in creating a patient centered care methodology that has achieved wide recognition.

"Our patients used to abuse our facility and our staff in our old building. In our new care center, which respects our patients, the patients take care of our building, our furniture and our staff. We credit REES (http://www. rees. com) and AUHC (http://www. auhc. com) with creating a new way of serving our patients."

"I know that Merit has been a true Internet pioneer since the 1980’s. Adding SpamStopsHere to its portfolio of services will bolster that reputation and provide an easy and affordable solution that will virtually eliminate the nuisance and security risk associated with spam."

Once just a nuisance, spam has now become a financial risk as spammers seek to swindle their targets through phishing scams or bogus product sales. The education industry is a prime target for spammers who see legacy domains hosting huge communities of potentially affluent faculties and staff, and students who conduct most of their shopping and banking online.

“We needed an advanced spam and virus option that could provide the advanced features and services our members require, but do it at an affordable cost,” said Rob Golden, vice president of research and development at Merit Network. “Greenview Data is very well-respected in the community, and the addition of SpamStopsHere has allowed us to provide our members a powerful new protection option.”

SpamStopsHere uniquely protects MeritMail members’ both incoming and outgoing mail: not only does it filter and block the delivery of 99.9% of spam to users’ mailboxes without blocking legitimate mail, but it also thwarts the distribution of outgoing spam, which may occur as a result of a botnet or otherwise corrupted machine.

“In the past, we’ve had whole colleges whose domains become blacklisted and virtually shut down due to spam generated from a corrupted machine on campus,” Golden said. “The fact that SpamStopsHere can prevent this problem protects the continuity of their business operations, as well as their reputation.”

SpamStopsHere is now available to all Merit members. A simple and easy integration process makes the implementation virtually invisible to the end user. Customized variables may be adjusted quickly and easily by request for each institution.

“One of the reasons we chose Greenview Data is because implementation is as simple as routing our member’s mail to their secure data centers where it is immediately processed,” Golden said. “All we have to do is redirect the mail through Greenview’s system and then back to us. The cleaned-up mail arrives at the end-user’s inbox with virtually no delay, and absolutely no spam.”

Recognized by Network Computing Magazine as the most accurate hosted anti-spam solution available, SpamStopsHere blocks 99.9% of spam with its unique databases of known spam and spammers (updated every minute) without blocking business-critical emails. The system’s fully-managed, hosted platform requires no installation or tuning, and virtually no support or maintence from internal IT departments making it ideal for organizations of all sizes.

Make Sauerkraut Part of Your Summer Grilling

Make Sauerkraut Part of Your Summer Grilling

Sauerkraut is one of the must-have grilling ingredients of the summer, especially given the mass consumption of favorites like hot dogs, sausages and bratwursts, says the co-owner of Great Lakes Kraut Co. Sauerkraut is also a great stand-alone side dish.

Bear Creek, Wis. (PRWEB) May 10, 2007

Shine the chrome skewers, grab the spring-loaded tongs, and don't forget the long-handled fork. Summer's just around the corner and that means it's time to roll out the grill. True-blue grillers will enjoy extra-tasty outdoor cooking when they include Sauerkraut on their menus, said Ryan Downs, co-owner of Great Lakes Kraut Co.

Sauerkraut (http://www. krrrrispkraut. com/index. htm) is one of the must-have grilling ingredients of the summer, especially given the mass consumption of favorites like hot dogs, sausages, and bratwursts. The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council estimates that Americans will consume 20 billion hot dogs this year.

That's a lot of opportunities to add Sauerkraut, Downs said.

"There are many grilling recipes (http://www. krrrrispkraut. com/sauerkrautrecipes/index. htm) that become more appetizing when Sauerkraut's added as an ingredient, side dish, or condiment," Downs said. "One of our favorite recipes is Hot & Spicy Sauerkraut Topping (http://www. krrrrispkraut. com/sauerkrautrecipes/side. htm#Topping). It's perfect for putting a tasty spin on grilled hot dogs, sausages, brats, or hamburgers."

Besides adding an extra burst of flavor to grilled food, Sauerkraut offers a health bonus. University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute research (http://www. upmc. com/Communications/NewsBureau/NewsReleaseArchives/2007/April/AACR_SinghStudy. htm) shows that chemical compounds in cruciferous vegetables like cabbage - from which Sauerkraut is derived - may stop human prostate cancer cells from growing and may cut off the formation of blood vessels that feed tumors.

German Potato Salad is a natural side dish choice when grilling. Try this recipe.

Hot German Potato Salad

5 medium red potatoes
6 slices of bacon
½ cup medium onion, chopped
1 cup Silver Floss® and Krrrrisp Kraut® Sauerkraut, drained
¼ cup water
½ cup apple cider vinegar
1 tsp. salt
¼ tsp. pepper
2 Tbsp. parsley, chopped

In a large pot, boil potatoes until tender. Drain and cool. Peel potatoes and cut into large diced pieces. In a 10-inch frying pan, cook bacon until crisp. Drain bacon on paper towels, reserving drippings. Cut bacon into ½-inch pieces. Sauté onions in the bacon fat until translucent. Add water and vinegar to deglaze the pan. Bring to a boil. Stir in Sauerkraut, potatoes, and chopped bacon. Season with salt and pepper. Heat through. Remove from heat and stir in parsley. Serve immediately.

Servings: 2-4

This Summer, Let Your Kids Teach You How to Laugh Again

This Summer, Let Your Kids Teach You How to Laugh Again

Many parents will find themselves spending more time with their children during these warm months. So what’s a parent to do with a houseful of boisterous kids? Humor Therapist Jacki Kwan says that parents should make the most of this extra time, “because your kids can teach you valuable lessons in living a happier, less stressful life.”

(PRWEB) May 19, 2004

Just the mention of the word “summer” brings to mind long, lazy days filled with picnics, barbecues, and lounging by the pool. Summer also means the end of the school year. As such, many parents will find themselves spending more time with their children during these warm months. So what’s a parent to do with a houseful of boisterous kids? Humor Therapist Jacki Kwan says that parents should make the most of this extra time, “because your kids can teach you valuable lessons in living a happier, less stressful life.”

According to Kwan, “Children are the humor experts.” She points out that adults only laugh 10 times a day, while children laugh 60 times a day. “Somewhere through the years,” Kwan says, “we seem to forget that laughing makes us feel good and washes away the pressures of the day-to-day routine. Unfortunately, laughing and clowning around are problematic issues for many adults. They’re very self-conscious of what others think of them and are unable to let go and have a good laugh.” It may take some practice, but mastering the skill of laughter will have enormous payoffs, such as reduced stress levels and an increase in overall well-being.

Kwan acknowledges that it can be risky to laugh publicly, but the payoff is worth it. “Laughing will make you feel better. Regardless of how you perceive yourself, you do have a childlike essence within. Some people are just more comfortable letting it show than others. If people can put laughter in their lives, then that’s what the heart will hear and what the body will display. So, in essence, laughing can help us all achieve a greater sense of inner peace.”

So this summer, instead of wishing your children would act like little adults, play with your kids. Get in the kiddie pool, toss some water balloons, or join in a game of tag. Pay attention to what makes your kids laugh and try to see the humor in that situation. Soon you will be able to find the humor in everyday situations. When you laugh a little more each day, youÂ’ll watch your stress level go down.

Jacki Kwan is a Licensed Certified Social Worker at the Clinical Level, a Master Practitioner of Neuro-linguistic Programming, a Registered Laughter Leader with the World Laugher Tour™, and a Therapeutic Clown. She is the creator of HA! HA! LOGY®, a multi-faceted therapeutic humor program for healthcare facilities, and leads Laughter Club sessions at nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the Washington, DC area. Jacki has been presenting workshops on humor and health since 1994.

Business Leaders Explore Affordable Health Insurance Options for Small Businesses in Central Texas Region

Business Leaders Explore Affordable Health Insurance Options for Small Businesses in Central Texas Region

Group Launches New Employer Survey

Austin, Texas (PRWEB) July 17, 2007

In an effort to address the need for affordable health insurance, especially for small businesses, the Indigent Care Collaboration (ICC) has convened a team of Central Texas business, community, and healthcare leaders to launch a new initiative to identify potential solutions. The coalition includes Lone Star Circle of Care, Travis County Healthcare District, Seton Family of Hospitals, St. David's Healthcare Network, Austin Area Research Organization and the Shivers Cancer Foundation.

The group recently launched a web based survey to seek input from small businesses throughout the region, whether they currently offer health insurance to their employees or not. The survey link is:

Http://www. healthcarecentraltexas. com (http://www. healthcarecentraltexas. com)

The deadline for completing the survey is August 10, 2007.

"Our goal isn't to come up with a plan and ask everyone to accept it," says planning committee member Clarke Heidrick, Board Member, Travis County Healthcare District. "We want to hear directly from small businesses about what will work for them and how the right health coverage package can help businesses and individuals succeed and be competitive in our region and beyond."

Approximately 17.9 % of the people in Central Texas lack sufficient health coverage, even though the majority of them are employed. According to the US Census Bureau, in 2003, Texas ranked 48th in the nation, with only 52.4 % of Texans having employer-sponsored health insurance coverage. Of the over 32,000 small businesses in the 6 county region of Central Texas, 40% are currently unable to offer their employees health insurance and most have not been able to for at least five years.

The survey was designed by the Indigent Care Collaboration after careful research and review of successful programs developed in other communities, including Access Health in Muskegon, Michigan; JaxCare Jacksonville, FL; and programs currently under development in Houston, Dallas, and Galveston.

"The lack of affordable health insurance for small business impacts everyone in Central Texas, and it's getting worse," says Andy Martinez, President/CEO of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. "If small businesses can't attract and retain employees while staying competitive and doing the right thing for their employees and families - then our entire regional economy is in trouble. It's time for small businesses to help figure out what kind of health coverage package will work for us. We can't wait any longer."

Woman Business Owners Conquer The Final Frontier

Woman Business Owners Conquer The Final Frontier

The Dragon's Lair, the spring fiction release from Brighid's Fire Books, features a feisty small business owner heroine. Women business owners will recognize the qualities they share with Skye Dakota as she uses the skills that made her enterprise a success to fend off the threat of a madman.

(PRWEB) January 31, 2005

Skye Dakota is not your typical science-fiction heroine. She doesn't wear body armor or single-handedly fight off alien invaders. She isn't in the habit of shouldering a handy laser cannon and she's not out to overthrow an evil intergalactic empire.

As a matter of fact, Skye Dakota is a pretty typical small business owner, proprietor of The Dragon's Lair, a bar that serves the mining planet of Petit from its orbiting space station. And everything about her that makes her a successful businesswoman comes into play when danger and intrigue suddenly erupt into her life in THE DRAGON'S LAIR, the new science fiction title from Brighid's Fire Books by first time novelist Lisa Guilfoil.

Women business owners are the hot new political and economic force these days. According to the Center for Women's Business Research, women owned businesses employ more than 19 million U. S. workers and generate $2.5 million in sales. The evidence of their ascendance is everywhere, from the corporate giants that vie for their business to the politicians who woo their votes.

There is a lot about Skye that businesswomen in the 21st century will relate to, even if they've never run an enterprise on a space station. Like Skye, they are concerned about issues such as affordable health insurance for their employees, access to markets and the regulations that sometimes get in the way of doing business.

Like most women business owners, Skye takes good care of her people and even tries to protect them when things get dicey. She is quick to spot a way to turn a personal disappointment into an entry into a new market. And she uses the independence, discipline and flexibility that made her a good boss and a good businesswoman in order to confront the dangerous rival who seems to want to remove his competition -- permanently.

"There aren't many authors in science fiction who create a character like this," says Brighid's Fire Books editor Dawn Rivers Baker. "As a woman business owner, Skye is very believable. It just so happens that the qualities that made her business so successful are the same ones that wind up keeping her alive. That's an idea that any woman who runs a small business would find intriguing."

The Dragon's Lair (ISBN 0-9713278-2-3) is scheduled for release on March 1, 2005. Trade paperback (perfect bound) release, 424 pages with no illustrations, cover price $19.95, wholesale price $12.97. For review copies, contact Brighid's Fire Books.
